Great place, really secluded and quiet. A bit of a weird vibe in the hostel because everyone seemed to have booked different hostels/hotels but it's all together! Really nice kitchen, saw monkeys right outside our door! Also the trails are not kept so you can't enjoy the land really!

We had an awesome time staying in Puerto Jimenez. Andrew's wife Jackie was so hospitable. We absolutely loved hanging out in a true jungle setting. You will feel like you've been swept away to Jurassic Park with all the amenities of home. The staff is friendly and the compound is fun. Enjoy ping pong, and a nice hot cup of coffee in the morning. If we return to Jimenez we will definitely be staying here again.

This place is amazing. Where else can you see howler monkeys from your room, 6ft Iguanas in the trees, myriad bird life and the odd mangrove crab? The staff are great and Andrew helped me get a great nights sleep by upgrading us with a really easy process. Communication was spot on. We really enjoyed this venue.

More than met expectations with regards to local flora and fauna. Right on our doorstep were as many animals as the areas enjoys. We saw; toucans, scarlet macraws, racoon, Capucine, Spider and Howler monkeys, a very large iguana. We were very pleased to have air-con in our room for a cool siesta and comfortable nights sleep. We recommend a trip out to Buena Esperanza bar in Cabo Matapola on a Friday night for craft market and great food.

It's always great to read that our visitors were able to see all the wildlife we claim they can on site.

The host was super friendly with a lot of good info to share about costa rica and made us feel extremely welcome. The property is absolutely gorgeous with tons of wildlife and natural beauty. We had the most fun relaxing on the property and enjoying the nature above everything else! The town itself is more of a locals town with not a whole lot to do. This was our last stop before our return home so our budget was running thin. Had we started here towards the start of our trip, we could have taken advantage of the more exciting and pricy opportunities and it might have changed our outlook. Like I said, it's close to the airport, restaurants and the beach which is nice.

I've been living in the Tropics since 1991. I married Jacqui in 1993 and we have spent the last 25 years living most of the time on the OSA peninsula of southern Costa Rica and Atenas in the hills of the central valley reputed to have the best climate on earth for human habitation.

We know that most hosts that have multiple listings are agents but in our case we are the owners of most of the listings while a few friends own the rest. It's all about unique locations and we have a number of them with unparalleled location, flora and fauna. Some of our offerings are a small hotel in Puerto Jimenez with different kinds of accommodations, a large four bedroom tropical home also in PJ, a cool laid back beach cabin and an escape to the OSA interior both on the Osa, 2 hostels both on the Osa and finally a truly magnificent home in Atenas offering fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding mountains. FYI -all animal fotos were taken on our properties, so bring a camera and enjoy.

We understand internet is a huge thing for a lot of travelers, so we have done a few speed tests at Casa Manglar & La Chosa del Manglar and posted the results as fotos for you to see. They are the last fotos on each listing. We have a 10 MB connection in Puerto Jimenez but please take into account that when there are numerous visitors that speeds slow down or if it is raining hard then internet service can be slow and/or intermittent.
