Our atmospheric period residence is the ideal tranquil country retreat. It provides the perfect getaway to a timeless restful space. This historic property, surrounded by acres of wonderful gardens, is also the perfect base for a touring holiday of the west of Ireland. The Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Bunratty, and Galway are within striking distance.

Guests have access to TV, audio and wi-fi. There is also an extensive library and lots of games. For the more active, we have a fishing boat and tackle, kayak and bicycles. There is also a barbecue and outdoor seating for dining al fresco.

We are always on hand for help and advice. Lots of local knowledge on restaurants, pubs, music and art events, historic sites, walks and bicycle trips.

This part of East Clare is stunningly scenic. Quiet country roads lead to small harbours and lake inlets. A sense of history pervades the area. The landscape and wonderful light have attracted many artists to this part of Ireland.

Although a peaceful and tranquil region, it makes an ideal base to visit many of the west of Ireland's most popular tourist attractions.

As the house has a vegetable and herb garden, orchard and fruit bushes; we provide some samples of the produce to our guests.
We also offer a food hamper to guests on arrival.

Our three night stay was absolutely everything we needed here. Warm, comfortable ,spacious and relaxing was the coach house. It had everything you need to prepare a lovely dinner in and the fresh bread and scones along with the other treats provided was a most enjoyable gift. The grounds are lovely to stroll in the morning and the Meelick House is in good proximity for day trips to the Burren, Bunratty. We truly enjoyed our stay here and both Jim and Annie were more than wonderful as hosts. We hope to be back some day. Highly recommended.

The carriage house is peaceful and beautiful! We planted ourselves for our trip and made our way from the house out to our explorations each day. We did not plan a traditional trip, we wanted to search for gems on our own, avoiding the tourist destinations and that is exactly what happened! It was the perfect location! We arrived late and were warmly greeted. The carriage house has beautiful views and wonderful amenities. We cooked or took a short drive to the pub for our meals. The Half Barrel is filled with kind and welcoming locals and the food is reasonably priced and delicious! We hated to leave Whitegate because after 10 days it felt like home. Jim and Annie were great hosts and Meelick house is fabulous!!! If you have the opportunity to stay in the carriage house, you will not be disappointed! Sláinte

The Coach House is beautiful and serene. Jim is an amazing host -- his tips were helpful and his accommodations were perfect. Walks around the area were great. The house itself is clean and well equipped. The views outside the window of coach house were a dream. My husband and I would love to stay again, such a special spot. Couldn't be happier with the whole experience at the Meelick House. Thank you Jim!

We had a fabulous stay at the Coach House for 5 days. It's perfect for a quiet getaway. The apartment is really cosy, has everything you need and being able to bring the dogs for a walk down to the lake was a real treat! Would highly recommend. Jim and Annie are perfect hosts!

Staying at the house of Jim and Anni is an absolute honour! They do the best they can to make you feel welcome and are more than willing to give you information about the house, region or Ireland in general. The house itself gives you every comfort you can wish for. It's very clean, with good facilities to have a perfect getaway in the Irish countryside!

Our stay with Jim and Annie was absolutely fantastic! The Coach House was beautiful and the pictures don't do it justice. Our hosts were around whenever we had questions and even provided suggestions of things to do. We loved our time there and can not wait to go back. I highly recommend staying with Jim and Annie to anybody traveling in the area.

There aren't enough words to describe how absolutely wonderful everything about this place is. It is magical. The coach house is warm, inviting, gorgeous, and well appointed, all while set on and among some of the most beautiful farm land you may ever come across. And the hosts - Jim and Annie, are perhaps the kindest, loveliest, most hospitable people you may ever meet. It is not an exaggeration to say, that after only 6 days, my husband and I made friends for life and I cried while leaving.

East Clare is an inspirational place to live. The place virtually dictates an interest in art, photography, music and literature. The quiet roads make for idyllic cycling and walking, and the profusion of scenic harbours on Lough Derg are ideal for sailing and boating.
The gardens in Meelick are a constant source of pleasure, and the supply of herbs and vegetables is a wonderful resource.
