Kathleen is such a wonderful host! I only wish we could have extended our stay. Her home is beautiful and the guest room was large and very comfortable. We enjoyed spending time in the sunroom sipping coffee and her homemade blueberry muffins (blueberries right off the vine!) Her home is just a few blocks from town (in a wonderful quaint neighborhood) we walked into town every day. And such a wonderful location, we took advantage of hiking in the state park, visiting the beaches, climbing Mt. Baldhead, antiquing and of course enjoying the Saugatuck Brewery. It was wonderful to stay with a local - Kathleen knows so much history and gave us great tips for things to see and do. I want to go back!!

The Hilltop Hiatus is the perfect place to stay for your trip to Saugatuck. Kathy is a wonderful hostess who will offer you plenty of options for things to see and do in the area. The coffee/breakfast spread is perfect to get you energized for a quick jaunt to the beach before a full-on brunch. The beach is just a 20 minute walk away (after crossing the Kalamazoo river on the only Chain Ferry in the US!) and the town itself has plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you entertained until the wee hours of the morning. My only piece of advice is to bring or purchase bug spray, as the mosquitoes are rampant.

Oh my goodness!! What a fun and scenic weekend in Saugatuck!! I had never been and my boyfriend thought a weekend away for my Birthday to this beautiful and trendy spot would be great!! And man was he right!! Beautiful sunsets!! Amazing wine and terrific food spots! And our host?? What a host Kathleen was!!! Her home is absolutely immaculate as well as quaint and trendy with a beach feel. Kathleen had a breakfast ready for the "on the go". She had a map for the travelers not familiar with the area in our amazing room with the most comfortable bed!! She even gave every single suggestion as to what to do and all the hot spots (upon our request). The night of my Birthday dinner Kathleen shared a delicious bottle of white wine with us. The only thing I regret of our trip was that we didn't invite her out to eat with us. What a great lady. We hope to come back and enjoy Saugatuck again during a salmon fishing trip. We highly highly recommend Kathleen's home. If you're looking for kindness and comfort this beautiful hiatus is the place!!

I retired about three years ago from a 42-year career as a Flight Attendant for a major US airline. I enjoyed my job very much but the industry has changed and the time came for me to hang up my wings rather than wear them.
My only child, now a successful adult landed a great job in Seattle last year so I live alone in a comfortable, modest home in the lovely summer resort town of Saugatuck, Michigan.
Since becoming a retired person, I now have more time to enjoy travel, outdoor sports and numerous activities. I'm always open to new adventures, new places to see and new people to meet. I love life & feel blessed that my health allows me to live life fully. I don't party like I used to when I was younger, but I'm a upbeat gal...I enjoy the company of friends, good music, good food and a nice glass of wine, sometimes 2.
I've traveled more than the average individual due to my former career, but I still want to see and experience several other places in this world.
As a guest, I am very respectful of the property of others and I expect the same when I open my home to guests.
