The space
Cozy and warm cabin with an idyllic location and with great views of the outdoor paradise of Tuddal, about 800 meters above sea level. The cabin is completely on its own with an absolutely stunning view that changes to all seasons. Nature is amazingly beautiful in this area and in our cabin you can be completely alone and enjoy the surroundings.

The cabin is cozy and invites you to quiet, good moments, family life, play and cuddle. The cabin has wi-fi and TV. The cabin is also perfect if you want a few days of peace and quiet or peace to work.

The cabin has a lovely fireplace that gives peace of mind and here you can sit with a glass of red wine and enjoy yourself. We have several board games so here the whole family can have fun together. In winter, you can light a fire in the brazier and make a toboggan run right outside.

There is a separate parking space with room for two cars and a path from here up to the cabin - about 150 meters and 4 minutes walk. The path itself goes through lovely forest terrain - both summer and winter. However, it is not recommended for those with poor legs or children under 2 years of age as it is a bit steep in some places.

Tuddal is a very cozy village that has welcomed tourists with open arms for 150 years. Here, among other things, the legendary Tuddal Høyfjellshotell, Here they serve lovely food, furthermore the hotel Gildehall with dining, rental of a hot tub and sauna as well as open bakery on sound days. In the village you will find Joker, interior and construction store and church.
There is a nice swimming area at the interior shop about 5 minutes drive from the cabin and at the campsite next to Joker. The grocery store Joker is located about 10 minutes drive from the cabin and is open 24 hours a day.

Location.
The cabin is located with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Here there are great hiking areas right outside the cabin wall, both summer and winter. Great areas that can be mentioned are; Gaustadtoppen, Gaustadknea, Gausdalen, Vindsjåen with Vindeggen, Bondal, Kovvann, Sjåvann and many, many more.

Ski - cross country skiing
The trail network is very varied, one can find both challenging and family-friendly paths in several directions, such as for e.g. Råen, Gaustadblikk, Sjåvann, Flugonfjell and around Toskjær. From the cabin, it is easiest to reach by car from the cabin. Great ski slopes up at Tuddal mountain hotel too. Possible to ski up the road to the nearest groomed slope - about 20 min to walk up the road from the parking lot at the cabin.

Alpine; Gaustablikk ski resort.

It takes about 20 minutes to drive from the cabin up to Gaustatoppen and about 30 minutes to Gaustablikk with 35 alpine slopes and freeriding down from Gaustatoppen. Note that the road from Tuddal and over to Gaustatoppen/Gaustablikk can be winter closed and then you have to drive down from Tuddal, out left on the main road and take off towards Rjukan and up from there to Gaustatoppen. This takes about 1.5 hours. To check if the road directly from Tuddal and straight up to Gaustatoppen is open or not check - call 175.

Summer
Endless hiking opportunities. Just grab your legs right outside the cabin or drive 5 minutes up the mountain. From there you will find short and long hiking trails in the mountains. Fishing opportunities in many waters in the area. Fishing license is purchased at Jokerbutik in Tuddal. Canoe/kayak is excellent to do in Toskjærvannet, 2 km from the cabin.

Own bed linen, sheets, duvet and pillowcases are brought by the tenant.
We have duvets and pillows for all beds.

Otherwise, you must bring wood for your own use - can be purchased at the petrol station on the way up.

In winter, you must have good winter tyres and be prepared for snow. If possible, it is recommended to arrive when it is light in the winter. If this is not possible, a headlamp is recommended.

From Oslo, Tønsberg it is about 2.5 hours to the cabin. Drammen 1.45 and Larvik about 2.5 hours.

You are most welcome.

Guest access
Sledding hill right next to the cabin - on the property.

Other things to note
The path up is partly a bit steep to walk up. Not recommended for those who are bad for legs or small children under the age of 2. But we have had many guests from home and abroad and all the guests have gone very well. It is also important to know that in winter you must have a car with good winter tyres and it is strongly recommended to bring snow chains.

My work: Works as a property manager at Redningsselskapet.
Speaks English and French
I work as Head of property at Redningsselskapet and Im married with 4 children. Some years ago I lived in Canada and France and I think my years abroad learned me about some of the most important things in life - that in general - human beings, where ever you're from - are quite alike. I will encourage my children to go and see the world - I think it will broaden their minds. In my sparetime I love doing theatre, sing in a vocal ensemble, do yoga, running and other kind of sports. I truly enjoy good architecture, a really nice cup of espresso in the morning, having fun, travel, being with family and friends. Due to a water leak in an apartement I rented out in Oslo in 2017, unfortunately I had to cancel several bookings just before arrival. I promise you however that this was an unfortunate accident and if you look at my other 120 reviews I will do my outmost to welcome you to my property.
