Nice apartment, perfect location. Marika told us about the history of the neighbourhood and that was really interesting. A couple of observations: The place could be cleaner, there was dust on the floor and the towels were a bit smelly. We could not find cups and plates, etc. in the apartment but we only ate outside so that was no problem. We arrived at 7.00pm and that was ok with check-in at 6.00pm but generally speaking I think that a check-in at 6.00pm and check-out at 10.00am is not so customer friendly. Anyway we had a good time in Tokio.

When we arrived in Japan, it was already about 11pm and we were exhausted. We tried calling her a multiple of times but we couldn't reach her. We then tried (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), line, vibre... literally every way that we could think of to contact her but she still didn't replied. We had to ask a friend of ours to email her personally, no response too. And, my sister (in HK) made a long-distance phone call and reached her after she dailled the number many times. She finally responded, by telling us to go to her office. After we arrived at the station, we couldn't find her office. The direction she gave us was not clear, the description of her office was lacking (she said we were supposed to see beautiful flowers outside her office but to be honest, there were beautiful flowers everywhere nearby). In addition, the sign that she supposedly put on the outside of her office was more or less an A4 piece of paper. After we knocked on the door, she brought us to the apartment, but the way she did it was fascinating. We understood that it was 1 in the morning, but she kept on complaining on how tired she was. She said since she was tired, she would call a taxi for us. But as the place where her office was was a place that taxi wouldn't pass by, so she said we had to head off to the main street to catch a taxi. She then got on her motorcycle and told us to follow her to the main street when we were carrying 4, huge and heavy suitcases. Once we reached the main street, she got us a taxi and paid for the fare. Since it was 1 in the morning, we were exhausted and we desperately needed to sleep. She sat us down and wanted to conversate. All we wanted to know was where the metro station was so we could get it over and done with. But she decided to tell us about the history of the area that we were living. We tried asking her about the Metro station but she just told us to listen to her. She tried to describe where the Metro station was, but when we followed her instructions, we became terribly lost. Aside the "wonderful" service, we felt like we were living in filth. We wiped the hangers that she provided for us and it was really dirty, the rag that we used instantly turned dark. The refrigerator was off and had a really stinky smell , so the food we bought turned bad. The bathroom was really dirty and nasty, I dropped a towel and it was covered with dust when I retrieved it. The MOST important part was, it took us 10 minutes to go to the Metro station and the apartment was not close to it at all.

Very nice Japanese house, in a quiet district, 5-10min from the subway station. Marika was very reactive to our emails. We originally planned to stay 3 nights, we finally stayed 5 nights.

Equal dirtiest place I've stayed so far; insects in the bath, rotten smell in the kitchen. Other dirty places were at least cheap - this one was 20,000 yen for three nights, as much as a cheap business hotel. Furthermore, other places might use overexposure to make their place look clean - this was the first which used a fake photo of a different bathroom. There were also problems with check in, basic facilities, annoying rules (e.g. must turn fan on every 12 hours or insects will enter house), constant interruptions from the host, etc.
