Sunny, peaceful, private suite on the top floor of a contemporary Japanese home w/ 2 large bedrooms, living room, bath, kitchenette, and dedicated guest entrance. You'll feel like you've stepped into another world with its authentic Japanese decor, textiles, books, and refreshments, tucked off a quiet street in popular funky/artsy West Asheville, a short walk to amazing restaurants, music venues, and breweries. Quick access to Downtown, River Arts District, Biltmore Estate & Blue Ridge Parkway.

The space
Clean, modern aesthetic complete with books, art and textiles from the owner's own collection. Furnishings and decor create a peaceful, comfortable, uncluttered experience. The suite has two spacious bedrooms with queen beds, a large living room and custom bath as well as a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, filtered water, and electric kettle. Amenities include complimentary coffee, tea, mineral water, and snacks. There are two TVs w/Netflix & Prime streaming, wifi, supplemental air filtration, and off-street parking.

Keeping with Japanese tradition, the guest area is shoeless. There is a flight of stairs to climb -- we live quietly on the ground floor.

Just 1/2 mile walk to central West Asheville, home to live music venues, restaurants, breweries, murals and shops with an alternative vibe that sets it apart from downtown.

Guest access
There is parking area reserved for guest use that is large enough for 2 cars. Street parking is also available on the west side of the street only, if needed. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, perfect for evening walks or morning runs, with several playgrounds within a few blocks for kids to play.

It offers a subset of everything Downtown--amazing restaurants, live music, shopping, cafes, farmer's markets, craft creations from ice cream to beer to cider to croissants-with it's own artsy, funky vibe including murals, recycle shops, and artisan-made gifts and goods. From the Kimono Cottage you are just a few hundred meters' walk from Haywood Rood, the artery of the West Asheville arts and business district.

We are located in a safe and quiet neighborhood that is great for strolls and jogs. There are several parks within 1/2 mile and several greenway trails about 1 mile from the house. There are also several grocery stores in easy 5 min walking distance, as well as a post office, drug store, hardware store and urgent care. Without even getting in your car, our neighborhood gives you convenient access to everything you need and a unique taste of what makes Asheville well, Asheville!

Satsuki, also called May, is originally from Amami Oshima, Japan and lived in California for many years before transplanting to North Carolina to live with her son Gen and daughter-in-law Anya and their daughter Sachi.
