The space

Besides what's stated in the overview ... Our home is meant to be a place to rejuvenate. Zoob and Tanya are your hosts. Tanya is a life coach, masseuse and mother to her baby boy Ronin, a joy! However they are in Hawaii so Zoob will be your host. Zoob is a yogi, BBOY, performer and artist. Ask about other roommates if you would like to know, everyone is friendly and busy doing their thing in NYC. Sunday night movies projected on the rooftop spring and summer, there are other art events and performance showcases held in the building you can enjoy. And our rooftop is a great asset anytime. The sense of community in our building is great, you can easily meet people on the roof.

Guest access

Wireless Internet, Vitamix blender, high grade water filter for drinking and filter in shower removes chlorine, Juicer, Food dehydrator, laundry card for in building laundry facilities, access to the community garden on our block, rooftop access great for morning coffee or a sunset dinner with friends with access to the grill, and if you are into fitness you can use the bosu ball, yoga ball, and kettle bells

Interaction with guests

Our space is great for travelers who want to meet other people and who are open. If you are really particular about privacy this place is not for you since it is lofted and we like to have visitors now and again. However it is calm in the house, not a place for partying and if anyone gets home late past 11pm they are quiet and just head to bed. We all respect sleeping times.

The neighbourhood

Our neighborhood has mixed cultures but mostly latino, many families and young artists and professionals. The people in our building are great! We have cameras in our building for security but our area is safe. The graffiti art on the building street coming to our building is really beautiful and an orchestrated effort of local artists. Our community garden on our block is totally refreshing and dense with plant life. Being a block from the train station is really convenient.

Getting around

L train one block away
M train 7 blocks away transfers easily to the J and F
A and C train you can transfer to 3 train stops away

Other things to note

First, your room is lofted so the height of the room is 5 foot 7 inches, if you are taller than this, keep that in mind. The decor and pictures don't reflect what is in the room, the bed is a single mattress. There is a stair leading to the entrance of your room, with an opening as the "door", and that facing wall is a partial wall. The rest of the walls are enclosed. You can also close the curtain that is installed to create more privacy (not in the pictures). Also, due to my and Zoobs life as a dancer, there are big mirrors on the wall in the common space and black foam mats to create absorption and a smooth surface for fitness or dance. I haven't been dancing much since being a mother but you can see the floors and bosu ball from the picture of the room looking out into the common space. Additionally, there is a snake that Zoob takes care of, a friendly python, super chill. And lots of Zoobs art.

House Rules
Check out by 1PM

*There is a charge of $10 for lost keys
*Clean up after yourself if using the kitchen.
*Booked guests only, no visitors allowed unless pre-arranged and I am home
*Please do not leave luggage bags in the common area
*Due to sound transparency, the house starts to get quiet by 10pm to respect a general sleep time by 11pm
*no food or drinks or dishes in the room as it would attract roaches, which you may see occasionally in the common areas, it really is not a big problem in our place but if you can't stand this at all I don't suggest staying here, I keep the place clean and have increased the repellant, however we have an old place so getting rid of them completely isn't realistic, it would be quite rare to see any in your room, keep it that way
*Check out is at 12 noon. Late check outs must be discussed before with me to see if possible.
*On your last day of stay -please put all garbage from your room in the kitchen bins.
*If the room requires any cleaning beyond, sweeping, dusting and laundry, ie big mess or damage there will be a fee taken from the security deposit, likewise if anything else in the house was damaged
*no smoking in house or hallways in the building, smoking on the roof is ok and there are rain proof ashtrays installed up there

Thank you!

Myself and my partner Zoob manage the space. We are both artists and healer types. I am a life coach and massage therapist. Zoob is a Kundalini Yoga instructor, BBoy, performer, aerialist, snake charmer, nude model and 2D animator. Much of his art work you can see in the space, his Alphapet characters and colorful drawings. Our space is like his art studio in a way. I am also a mother of a wonderful toddler, happy to spend much of my time with him.
