The space

Loads of character, wood frame Century home, beautiful wood details throughout house, hardwood floors, 1 bathroom with old claw foot tub, garden filled yard, big front porch with hammock and bistro set for breakfast, large kitchen, 2 comfortable bedrooms, one with queen bed, one with double, robes in bedrooms for late night wandering, hot tub, wireless internet, parking.
My husband Marty (a retired physics teacher) and I (Mary) (hairdresser, school bus driver) (also retired) have joined this site to share our funky old place with other travelers. We know how much we enjoy a bit of friendly advice about the area we're traveling in when we are on the road, and a nice, clean bed in a home environment at the end of the day.
We are happy to provide a breakfast ( either cooked or cold, depending on what you would prefer (or how early you would like to start your day. We are the town next to Point Pelee National Park which is a haven for birders and hikers. Canoes are available for rent in the park. There are many beaches for swimming.
This area in the Southern most part of Canada has had a blossom of Wineries. Wineries offer tours and tastings and many special events. You could even book a trolly with a group that drives you around to various wineries. In the fall, a marvelous Wine Festival features acclaimed musicians, local wines and gourmet food on the banks of the Detroit River in Amherstburg. While you drive around, buy local vegetables and fruit on many outdoor stands.
We are about a 30 minute drive to Windsor which has lots of wonderful restaurants, live and movie theaters, art galleries, music at various venues, ethnic areas with great shopping, beautiful old Walkerville (the whiskey baron) and a marvelous water front walk and outdoor theater with festivals during the warm weather.
Our own town, Kingsville, is a small town with a big heart. We have a diverse food scene. Sushi, Greek, Chinese, Ale House, Italian and many other places to try. The ferry to Pelee Island leaves the dock at the end of town in the fall and you can take the ferry from Leamington daily in the summer. Pelee Island is a great place to explore on a bike for the day. Don't forget to visit the Winery on the Island.
We are just a few blocks from Lake Erie where you can stroll around Historical Lakeside Park. There are biking and hiking trails throughout town. We have a few bikes for your use.
You are welcome to use the kitchen to cook if you would prefer to save your money for other things.
Marty and I are musicians and we occasionally have House Concerts featuring various musicians. All of our children play instruments and family get togethers are always fun.
Marty and I and our cat, Tom, would be happy to share our home and knowledge of the area. We want you to relax, kick back and discover what our piece of Canada has to offer.

We had a perfect stay with Mary and Marty! The house is beautiful, the photos really don't do it justice. Breakfast was fantastic, Marty cooked something delicious every day! The location is great, closer to the lake and the town. We loved chatting to our hosts in the morning. Can't recommend this place more highly!

Thank you guys. It was such a pleasure to have you here and get a perspective of England's politics! Maybe we'll see you when we venture to your part of the world. Best of luck.

Mary and Marty are amazing. Breakfast in the morning was phenomenal and the room was very comfortable. We came to scope out the wineries and they are perfectly located for that. A short walk to downtown bars and restaurants. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Couldn't have asked for a better experience

Mary and Marty are great interesting hosts. Wonderful experience to feel so welcomed. Great breakfasts, relaxed environment, comfy room and moonlit bed. Nice balance struck between the private space and time I needed, and welcome opportunities to indulge in good conversation. Birding hours accommodated.

Thank you Mary and Marty to have made our one week stay so comfortable and enjoyable. The information you gave us was very useful. The breakfasts were excellent and more than generous. Your house is cozy, full of history, and stories, and lively. A great holiday for us.

Hi, I was born in this area, but have lived in California, New York and now, back in Essex County. I am retired from the 9 to 5 to pursue a few things I love, like sewing, hosting, cooking and traveling. I've just recently started a clothing line with my daughter called Carma (o…
