Theresa and Simon welcome you to our traditional Norman long-house, set in a large garden; we offer two independent rooms for visitors, including a kitchenette. A few kilometres from Etretat, we offer excellent calm for a holiday, reflection and personal renewal.

A continental breakfast is included.

We are an ideal base for cycling or hiking, and now we offer a mindfulness retreat package with guided meditation for different situations. Contact retreats@riboudin.com for more information/

The space
A stunning thatched house within 3.5km of the beautiful town of Etretat, Seine Maritime, on the Normandy coast, famous for its dramatic cliffs. Close to several challenging cycle routes, with access to boulangerie, restaurant and minimart within the village.

We offer 2 non-smoking bedrooms with sitting areas, a shower-room/toilet and a shared kitchenette. The upstairs bedroom has a high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams.

Wireless internet is included, suitable for all devices.

The house has 4 Hectares/10 acres of grounds full of wild flowers and animals, and help is available to repair bikes, if required. Specific zones are maintained for meditation.

We are close to the Le Havre ferry port (23km) and the market fishing town of Fecamp is about 20km away. Major supermarkets are within 10km, and the nearest railway stations are at Fécamp and Bréauté Beuzeville, direct to Paris.

The location is exceptionally quiet and secluded whilst being close to many activities and amenities. Watch the sun set from our meditation circle with firepit, or simply relax and enjoy the green calm.

Children are welcome, and we have two sociable boys who are always keen to make new friends.

Due to the wide variety of animals around and about, we cannot accept dogs.

Everyone who visits is bewitched by the combination of tranquility, nature and easy access to everything you need to make your holiday relaxingly perfect.

Breakfast is served in the family dining room.

Guest access
Guests have access to their room, the adjoining shower/WC and kitchenette on the first floor from the main door of the house. There is ample space for bike storage and repair. The garden has a barbecue and table. Parking is available behind the house.

Other things to note
We are strictly non-smoking, but e-cigarettes are accepted. We have a cat, chickens and bats in residence, and the thatch does attract spiders. There is a beehive in the garden. The local hotel has a bar, but there is nowhere open late at night. If given notice, we can provide a welcome platter with drinks (prices vary depending on your choices). We make our own preserves and smoked salmon, depending upon the ingredients available.
Visitors who come for the guided meditation sessions are invited to walk with us along the cliff tops and to participate in group meditation in the forest.

Le Tilleul is an ancient roman settlement with a population of 600 people. Sitting on the Alabaster Coast the village was pivotal in the Second World War, hiding a British sabotage team from the Nazis. Etretat is famous for its cliffs and coastal walks, and offers a good variety of quality restaurants. Fécamp is famous as a fishing port and has a thriving smoking industry and fresh fish market. We are on the hiking path GR21 that runs from Le Havre to Veulettes sur Mer, a distance of 91km.

We moved to France permanently in 2008, to take on a new challenge and to seek a better quality of life. We spent some years restoring our house, as well as working in industry, Simon as a technical director and Theresa as an English teacher. We are both now developing our skills as mindful meditation coaches. We are a very active family, who enjoy cycling, swimming and gardening, mainly to burn off the delicious food we also love. We make our own jams and pickles, plus we have a beehive that blesses us with delicious honey. When we get the chance, we read extensively and I like to keep abreast of the economic and political landscape, as well as trying to study a bit of art. We keep in touch with the UK, but we also work to integrate with the local community through sport, social events and our childrens' school life. We have both travelled extensively and worked internationally in the past, which has given us a very open-minded approach to the world, and we welcome everyone who wants to benefit from the serenity of this amazing location.
