Our elegant pre-war two-bedroom apartment with hard wood floors, archways, and plated glass-detailing is just fifteen minutes to Times Square! Three min walk to subway, shops, restaurants, w/a gourmet kitchen, study, huge master bdrm, amazing light.

The space

Its a beautiful, quiet, relaxing space, that is clearly a home lived in by two professional creatives - a writer and a filmmaker/actor. It has photos from our last film on the walls, posters from Catherine's broadway shows and Bryan's latest productions, and paintings by our friends and colleagues around.... Welcome to a true New York City home!!

You have access to absolutely everything, except a couple designated closets and our bedroom. Make yourself comfortable!

Happy to help you get in and get settled, and if you need any recommendations, we're either working from home or just a phone call or email away!

Astoria is a gorgeous newly hip neighborhood with everything you need - great restaurants, food trucks, bars, pubs, shops, etc - but where everyone still says hello and the guy who runs the wine store knows us.

Three minute walk to major subway lines, which takes you 15 minutes to get into Times Square, the heart of NYC, without having to change trains! So easy!!

Had a good stay at Catherine & Brian's place while in NYC for a few days for work. Spent very little time in Astoria or the apartment as I was busy with a workshop & meetings in Manhattan. Nonetheless, the room was spacious with desk and the location was very convenient with a subway station nearby on a line that would lead me straight to Time Square, close to where all my work meetings were. Astoria is a friendly safe neighborhood, with supermarkets nearby and lots of restaurants/cafes (which I had no time to check out, btw) around the corner on Broadway. Might be worth knowing though that you will sleep on a large air mattress rather than a 'real' bed, although it slept well; and in case you're a light sleeper like me, you can hear passing traffic (Catherine provides earplugs so that helps somewhat) plus the curtains are white & not wide enough to fully cover the windows (they cover half to 2//3rds), which means the room gets flooded with light & at night you may be lacking some privacy. The only minus I would say was the latter, as I like to have full width curtains in a bedroom, so I used blankets to cover the gap. Otherwise good convenient stay, with some brief but nice chats upon my late return in the evening

Great communication, nice apartment, amazing location. 1 block to a great strip of restaurants, bars, and neighborhood shops. 3 blocks to N train which is only 4 stops to midtown. Easy bike ride over the Queensboro bridge to Manhattan. Midtown by bike was under 30 minutes for me, by train 30-40 min depending on when you timed it. Honestly much easier getting into Manhattan than from Brooklyn. No place to keep a bike inside, but I didn't have any issues locking to a tree out front for a week. Bedroom is actually large enough for 2 people and their suitcases, unlike many NYC Airbnbs. Astoria is much cleaner than most areas of the city I've stayed in. It's relatively quiet and a comfortable area to stay in.

Had an absolutely fantastic stay with Catherine and Bryan. Very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable hosts. They went out of their way all weekend to make sure we were happy. If you're looking for a safe, comfortable and affordable place to stay in Astoria, look no further.

Catherine's house is at a great location, near to shop and public transit. The room is clean and tidy and has all you need for a comfortable stay, including chair and table.

It was my first time renting a private room and sharing a bathroom in someone's home and it was just fine. My hosts were gracious and accommodating. The room where I stayed is full of light, with a great night view of the Triboro Bridge, plenty of light during the day, trees in front of the window/desk. where I worked and enjoyed my morning coffee. The building reminded me of my first apartment in Vienna so it felt quite fine. There is no elevator so Bryan was kind enough to help me with my luggage. The location is just tight for getting in and out of Manhattan with plenty of grocery stores/bodegas near by. . Astoria is a diverse and eclectic, vibrant neighborhood. Safe. Nice restaurants (I tried Chinese, Greek and Thai), and once you get your bearings, easy to navigate. I walked quite a bit, including crossing the Queensboro Bridge on a clear day - a treat!. I would have liked to explore more. A positive experience.
