The house has beautiful mountain and pastoral views. The mature hedge maze is a challenge, feeding eels is fun, and the art gallery inspiring. 15 minutes drive to Motueka, 35 minutes to Abel Tasman & Kahurangi National Parks, 45 minutes to Nelson.

The space

Set on our 5 ha property in the beautiful Orinoco Valley, and located well off the road and away from the sound of traffic, this very tranquil and well appointed 3 bedroom house has pastoral views, and looks out onto the Mt Arthur Range in the Kahurangi National Park. The house is fully configured for comfortable and relaxed living, and is of a high standard. All linen, towels, toiletries etc are provided. Your only requirements will be your personal effects and food. The Motueka River is less than 5 minutes away and 1/2km of the Orinoco Stream meanders through the property, with picnic spots and small swimming holes. TRULY A MAGICAL PLACE TO STOP AWHILE.

Guest access

The house is carpeted throughout and is tastefully furnished. Aside from 3 double bedrooms, there is also an enclosed sunroom off the lounge with a double sofa bed. In the bathroom there is a large ball and claw bath. There is also a separate shower room. Free Wifi available. Television is provided in both the lounge and dining room. There is also an extensive library of books and magazines, well over 100 DVDs, and some VCR tapes. For outdoor living the paved patio, with extensive and peaceful pastoral views of the valley, has outdoor furniture and a gas BBQ. The water supply is the purest of spring water sourced directly from underground. Exploring our 5 ha property with the stream, eel feeding, hedge maze, artist studio and gallery etc is encouraged.

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely secluded house - with loads of space and beautiful views of the countryside. Anne and Lola (the dog!) gave us a fantastic welcome, and we would highly recommend this as a place to stay. Slightly difficult to find though, as the GPS location given on the website brought us to the wrong place. We did get good phone directions from Michael.

Anne was home when we got in and made us feel very welcome. The home is in a beautiful location and we had fun taking some day trips to Nelson, Abel Tasman, and the Nelson Lakes area. We also ran through the maze, fed the eels, and Anne gave us a tour of her art studio. It was a very lovely and relaxing time.

Together with my wife Anne, we have lived in the Motueka River Valley now for twenty five years. For many years prior to this we dairy farmed in the North Island, not far from the Waitomo Caves tourist attraction. Since living here in the Top of the South I have been involved with the local Information Centre, and then for 6 years until 2003, together with one of our sons, owned and operated one of the major Sea Kayaking companies in the Abel Tasman National Park. Anne is an extremely talented artist, who works in an amazing range of media and styles. She has just completed an advanced art degree. She has a studio and gallery on our property which guests are welcome to visit. Our interests are wide and varied, with a great love of nature the outdoors. This area, with its diverse range of flora and fauna from the mountains to the sea, being the perfect place for us to live. We feel very privilaged.
