The space
The main level sleeps FOUR guests on a comfortable King size bed and full size sofa bed. The downstairs bedroom can sleep three more and has a King and twin day bed with 1/2 bath. The studio's open layout and picture windows make the space feel larger than it is. And the extra large screen room adds additional living space for you to enjoy nature as you relax. Blackout curtains and door window blinds help you to rest well.

Our cabin will be stocked with a Starter Kit of 2 rolls of toilet paper, 1 roll of paper towels, 2 garbage bags, soaps. We do suggest that you bring more essentials if you think you will need it. Also, all clean linens and towels will be in place when you arrive, except for the sofa bed linens which are in the plastic bin on the floor next to the dresser.

Kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. We know how important coffee is in the morning so there is a Keurig, a drip coffee maker, and a French press for all the coffee connoisseurs as well as sweetener, coffee, and creamers for that first morning to get you going. Tea and honey too. Help yourself to items in the fridge and pantry as well.

With a boat ramp right beside the cabin you can bring your water toys to fully enjoy the lake experience. SUP or motor on over to Lake Hickory Scuba and Marina, which is just around the point, to get some hand dipped ice cream, coffee, or to hear occasional live music in the summer months. You can also walk there easily if you choose. Let us know if you need to borrow a life jacket. We have plenty in many sizes.

The space is child friendly. The windows have cordless blinds. The lower portion of the screen room is reinforced with cable railing outside the screen as an extra barrier. There is a high chair, pack and play, dinnerware, outlet and door knob protectors available at your request. There is also a tree swing.

Tie your boat up to the dock, lie in the sun, or jump in for a refreshing swim. Roku TV with WiFi. No cable.

If you're lucky enough to stay over the 4th of July, the fireworks display is unbeatable from our spot on the water as you can see straight up the lake and fireworks shoot off from everywhere you can see. Of course, there is something about lake life that inspires people to shoot off fireworks for any occasion to celebrate so you may see some on Memorial Day, Labor Day, New Years, etc.

For your safety we adhere to Airbnb's 5 step enhanced cleaning process. We wash entire bedding including the quilt or duvet cover and couch throw each booking. There are also plenty of cleaning supplies available for your use during your stay.

Guest access
The cabin, screen room, lower deck, dock, canoe, life jackets, paddles and other items in dock box, and boat ramp are yours to access.

YOU CANNOT ACCESS THE DOWNSTAIRS BEDROOM FROM INSIDE THE STUDIO. IT IS ACCESSED WITH ITS OWN DOOR BY THE LOWER DECK.

If you are bringing your boat, you are welcome to use the boat ramp next to the cabin. You will need to pull up into the yard in order to maneuver backing down the ramp. If you have a larger boat or are just not comfortable with the ramp, you can put in at lake hickory scuba and marina which is very close.

Other things to note
We live in the country so there are no leash laws. Occasionally a neighborhood dog may stroll through, however we've yet to meet any that are unfriendly.

Neighbourhood highlights

The neighborhood is relatively quiet and you're welcome to walk and explore. The lake can get quite busy during the summer months, but weekdays, mornings and evenings are usually quiet and calm. Lake Hickory Scuba and Marina is within walking distance or bring your paddle board and paddle on over. Riverbend Park has great hikes and is a 5 minute drive away, just below Oxford Dam.

Closest place to eat is Crossroads Grill which is always filled with locals and is just a few minutes up the road. Another close by favorite is Apple City BBQ. And if you want more ambiance, check out Brushy Mountain Restaurant where you can also play a round of golf. There are a couple of restaurants on the lake including the closest Sandbar and the other on the far end of the lake, but well worth the drive, Copper Penny.

Hickory is 20-25 minutes SW and has all types of restaurants, entertainment and shopping you desire. And is home of Lenoir Rhyne University.

The town of Taylorsville is an easy 15 minute drive north and features several quaint shops and restaurants. There is also a local ice cream shop and some other neat places to check out.

The very small town of Bethlehem is 10 minutes west if you need groceries, gas, or your Starbucks or Dunkin' fix. Also, has a few restaurants.

The Farmer's Daughter is a local fruit and vegetable farm just a few minutes north where you can purchase fresh produce, ice cream, hot lunch and let your kids play on the playground out back. You can't beat their delicious ripe strawberries when in season.

Conover, Claremont, and Newton are 15-20 minutes south of us for more restaurants and shops to explore.

Wilkesboro is roughly 30-40 minutes north and hosts the famous Merlefest annually, as well as the Carolina in the Fall music festival each September. Both are amazing.

Boone and Blowing Rock are about an hour away.

Charlotte is an hour south.
