My name is Edwin Espinoza Sotelo, I am from Mollepata Peru where the famous alternative trek to Machu Picchu begins, Salkantay. I have been sending people on this route for years with my horses and with my friends as guides, cooks or arrieros. In 2012 my family and I began to construst small cabins along the Salkantay route. Living in the Mollepata region I was lucky enough to meet Nathan Heald who invited me to Climb Salkantay with him. Although I had hiked the pass for years, being my backyard and all, this was the very first time I would put on crampons and use a pick axe. It took us three years and many attempts to conquer this amazing but difficult Apu. Apu Salkantay! From here on out I have been climbing every mounatin in the Salkantay and Ausangate region. I been trekking and climbing these mountains for three years with Nathan. I have worked closely for 8 years now with SAE South American Explorers Club Cusco, and have been supplying excursions for Backpackers La Boheme for more than three years. I work very closely with Bill and Nic, who run Bill and Nic´s House on airbnb in Cusco and have been sending me backpacking trekkers for years, they also run an adventure agency called Haku Expeditions which are all inclusive which I help them with all the logistics on the route Salkantay.
This is a family run business. You will meet my father, Marino Espinoza, my mother, Mercedes Sotelo and my sister Flor De Maria Espinoza Sotelo. We all work together very closely to provide you the best and richest expierence on Salkantay. We help you to have an amazing trek and avoid the need for any kind of agency intervention. My father may be your horse guide or cook or maybe he will just hang out and chat with you before you leave Mollepata. My mom will cook you a great breakfast before you leave and my sister will help organize everything and give you the ride of your life in the back of our truck if you would like transport to Soraypamapa. We are a local family who love helping people do Salkantay on their own.
We run this cabin trek on a continuos basis and have had great success. We can´t wait to meet you.
