Ploughmans Cottage is located in the Village of Furnace, 7 miles from Inveraray, in Argyll. The cottage was built around 1890 to house the Ploughman for Goatfield Farm, and has been extensively remodelled to create a unique getaway. Offering a large double bedroom, lounge and open plan kitchen diner, and stunning bathroom with Victorian roll top bath. The views across Loch Fyne from the private terrace are stunning.

Tucked away in the heart of Argyll’s stunning landscape, this truly unique cottage has been thoughtfully designed to create a warm, romantic and unforgettable stay.

Inside, traditional craftsmanship and carefully chosen materials give the cottage its distinctive atmosphere. Flagstone floors, rich parquet flooring, cast iron radiators and a handmade kitchen blend effortlessly with stylish interiors and modern comforts including WiFi, Smart heating controls and television. Every corner has been designed to feel cosy, welcoming and full of character, creating a space guests regularly describe as “beautiful”, “peaceful” and “the perfect getaway”.

At the heart of the cottage is the inviting lounge with its traditional wood-burning stove - the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the surrounding hills, lochs and nearby Inveraray. Soft lighting, carefully curated décor and luxurious touches throughout make Ploughmans Cottage ideal for romantic breaks, special occasions and relaxing escapes from busy everyday life.
One of the cottage’s most loved features is the traditional outdoor wood-fired hot tub. Set beneath the open sky, it offers a wonderfully authentic and relaxing experience, especially on crisp evenings under the stars. As this is a traditional wood-fired tub, guests heat and prepare the tub themselves using the provided firewood and instructions. A complimentary starter supply of logs is included for both the hot tub and indoor stove; however, depending on usage during your stay, additional firewood may need to be purchased locally from the village store or in Inveraray.

Surrounded by nature and designed with comfort and atmosphere in mind, Ploughmans Cottage offers a stay that feels both luxurious and wonderfully grounded in the Scottish countryside.
