Beautiful family home and gardens in the Eden Valley. Lovely local area and activities along with easy, fast access to the Lake District. Dene House is our family home we intend to rent out over school holidays. It is an old property so that comes with its characterful rustic charms! The house comprises of numerous reception rooms, along with 5 bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms lead off each other but there is an additional staircase. Lovely gardens in just under an acre, with a treehouse.

The space
The main part of Dene house dates back to the 1800s with some parts being older still. The house has a lovely atmosphere, a little bit of grandeur with a very casual, informal, cosy feel. The garden is walled and has several areas. There is the top and the side lawn along with the rose walk, and the vegetable garden. The lower garden has a tiny pond and plenty of space to play. There is also a large Dene, or as we call it, Japanese garden, full of paths to explore. This area of the garden can get slippery in the wet and there are lots of steps, so younger children must be supervised. There is a large treehouse with writing desk and platform, fantastic for kids. The house sleeps 10, the kitchen table seats 8. The dining table will seat 10 however. Upstairs the generous master bedroom also has a large (pink!) bathroom en-suite. There is a smaller single room and another double room. At the other end of the landing is a double bedroom with the ‘maid’s room’ leading off this. The maid’s room has a bunk bed with the bottom being a double and the top a single. From the maids room there is a second staircase down into the playroom. These two bedrooms perfectly suit a family.
There is so much to do in this area, within walking distance from the house is the Long Meg stone circle and Lacy’s caves. Lovely river walks and Lane walks. Along a bridle way from Dene House you come to Hudsonby outdoor pool, great for families, or an early morning swim. Easy access (around 20 minutes drive) to Pooley bridge and Ullswater and just over 30 minutes to Keswick. Really a lovely place to be based for a week.
Most of our personal belongings will be removed. The playroom will remain fully stocked for families to use. Any specific requirements, just ask.
