We acknowledge the Alaska Native nations upon whose ancestral lands our cabins reside. In Healy, Ranger's Refuge is located on the ancestral lands of the Tanana Athabascan people.

Experience a true Alaskan experience as you cozy up in this tiny cabin surrounded by nature and untouched wilderness. Secluded in the woods, you'll have plenty of opportunity for moose sighting. Located 20 minutes north of Denali National Park and under 2 hours from Fairbanks, you'll be ideally located for adventure.

The space
For those hoping to get the quintessential Alaska experience, our cabin is perfectly situated on 5 acres of privately owned land, surrounded by phenomenal views and wooded areas. It is conveniently located in Healy, close to Denali and not far from Fairbanks. From the screened in porch, you'll be able to look out into the wilderness while being sheltered from insects. On quiet evenings, you'll see and hear the birds from the deck, often seeing and hearing sand hill cranes, trumpeter swans, ptarmigan, loons, eagles, owls, and robins. Our cabin is secluded, providing excellent privacy.

The cabin has a grey water system and a spotless outhouses for a true Alaskan experience! During the summer months, typically mid May through early September, a hot outdoor shower is provided as a bonus after a long day in Denali!

There is a full kitchen; refrigerator, gas range, microwave oven, coffee pot, and a water kettle.

This cabin is one of three cabins on our 5 acre property. The other cabins are often empty. Occasionally our family and friends use one of the other cabins. Other times there are guests booked into the cabins. Ranger's Cabin is tucked away in the trees and offers a feeling of seclusion.

Where you’ll be

Healy, Alaska, United States

Many residents of Alaska choose to live full time in a dry cabin, a cabin without running water. Our outhouse is comfortable and clean. Purified water is provided for hand washing and cooking. Grey water plumbing is built into the cabin. During the summer months, usually mid May through early September, you can enjoy a hot, outdoor shower. When temperatures drop to freezing, the water system is disconnected to the shower so the internal components and water system don't freeze. Please note that at times during the year the outhouse and shower house are shared between two cabins. Hot water is on demand and plentiful, no chance of running out!

Two wheel drive vehicles can reach the cabin during the summer, however, all wheel drive or 4x4 is highly recommended in the winter. Roads are kept clear of snow, however, there are a few steep hills. Stampede Road is a paved road. The final 1.7 miles of your journey is on a well maintained gravel road.
