We've lovingly remodeled our historic home, built in 1890, in the core of downtown Lancaster - walkable to the train station, the hospital, Central Market, and the baseball stadium. Now with 2.5 bathrooms (one on each floor), we live here part of the year and rent to groups of up to 8 people when we are gone.

The space

The house was built in 1890, and has the original gorgeous 3-inch hardwood floors on the ground floor and in the master bedroom. We've also re-carpeted the upstairs. The living area is on the first floor, 3 bedrooms are on the second floor, and there is a 3rd floor bedroom.

Guest access

The house is yours! From the full kitchen to the dining room to the comfortable living room, please make yourself at home.

Interaction with guests

The house is yours unless you need us. You can reach us by text or phone and we also have a Lancaster ambassador - a friendly neighbor who will check you in, check you out, and give you recommendations.

Other things to note

We love Lancaster and have lots of suggestions for great places to visit and eat. Please feel free to ask us!

We have an iron and ironing board.

We had a great stay at the Serenity House. The house was clean and as pictured. It's an old house, so you can hear everything, but the bathrooms and kitchen are all remodeled and very nice. There was really good communication with the co-host Tim, he was very responsive to text messages, though we didn't really need anything on our stay. The only caution I would have is that if you are a light sleeper, this is probably not a good place to stay. The first night we were there, the neighbors were screaming and running around next door until about 3am, and the walls are thin so we had a really hard time sleeping. Also the street noise is loud since it's on a main road, so I recommend bringing a white noise machine if you are sensitive to noise. We stayed here with another family and had a total of 4 kids under the age of 5, so the bunk beds and the kids books were a really great touch! The house is right in between Turkey Hill and Dutch Wonderland (20 minutes to each), and also about a 20 minute walk to the Lancaster Central Market, so it's a really convenient location if you plan to spend time at those places. Overall we had a great stay!

The house is old but has been remodeled with care. It may be feel unwelcoming at first glance but it was comfy and cozy after getting familiar with the house. Keypad lock made it easy to check in and out. Timm was available to answer any questions if needed. The location was an easy drive to Hershey and Amish Farms. Street parking could be a little tricky for multiple cars.

Serenity House was a great place to stay during our exploration of Lancaster County. 15 minutes from Dutch Wonderland, 20 minutes from the Train Museum. The house was very spacious and well equipped. Keypad on the door made check in easy, but the caretaker was also very responsive if we had needed any assistance. Parking for 2 cars on the street was pretty easy. Considering how old the house is, it is nicely updated leaving the charm: squeaky stairs and uneven floors remain. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a place in the area.

This lovely home filled with character and charm was the perfect location for our group of friends attending a wedding in the Lancaster area. With welcoming notes and easy communication with Timm, we felt right at home! The house is spacious with its numerous bedrooms and I would highly recommend it for any larger group looking to stay this area.

I am South African, and love to create / build and remodel homes. My wife, Jenny Rae, is originally from Lancaster, PA and is also a world traveler. We have lived in Redding, CA for the past 7 years and love the area - there are so many outdoor adventures to be had in the area or a short drive away. We also travel extensively with our 3-year-old, Zane, to our second home near family in Pennsylvania and around the world (50 countries and counting).
