I booked this place for my Mum and Dad to stay for a week and they certainly weren't disappointing. Great hospitality and a nice little cottage. The cycle into the city centre took around 15 minutes and the cottage is in a nice quiet residential area. Would recommend Pierluigi's place to anyone coming to the area!

Pierluigi was very welcoming, provided lots of local information and was always more than happy to share his local knowledge and the best places to visit. He was also very generous bringing us daily local produce, breads, biscuits etc. The location of the property is good and the surroundings gardens very well kept

We had a most wonderful 9-day stay in Lucca, which we used as our base for our Tuscan holiday. The cottage is well-located and relatively close to the city centre, the station and a large supermarket. Pierluigi provides two well-equipped bicycles (with lights and attachable bags) free of charge, which made commuting into the city centre very easy and very quick. Even those nervous about on-road cycling will find the local drivers very patient. The cottage is private and is well equipped. It doesn't have air-conditioning but we found it manageable in September (~30-31 max) without a fan, which can be provided if requested. (The wifi is available but may not be reachable to all devices given the location of the cottage. But we didn't find this too big an issue.) We were able to cook and eat at home on a few evenings and there is even a barbecue and access to the wonderful veggie garden if needed. Pierluigi was a most helpful and kind host. He greeted us with local produce to snack on while he provided us with a very thorough overview of the travel and dining options in Lucca and in Tuscany. A lot of useful information was available. We also received many treats from our host during our stay: local focaccia, home made cakes and other things. Though we were out and about, the cottage and the backyard allow guests to enjoy the sun in the sunlounges if desired. Pierluigi was the best host we've had. He is kind and generous without being officious.

Pierluigi made us very welcome guests at La Capinera, which is a charming cottage ideal for 2. We were collected from the station and shown the best way into town and provided with supper and lots of information about Lucca and the surrounding area. He gave recommendations for places to eat, which we were very pleased with and very kindly brought us local produce to try. The area is absolutely delightful; we fell in love with Lucca and Pierluigi helped us make the most of our visit. The garden is beautiful and well equipped with chairs and loungers and plenty of places to find some shade. We really made the most of the bicycles provided which were perfect for getting in and around Lucca. Cycling around the city walls is a delight and we also enjoyed cycling along the river and aquaduct. We visited Pisa, Florence, Cinque Terre and the beach by train without any problems. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property, the area and Pierluigi as a host.

We had a fantastic time here. The cottage is small but perfect for two, and has a delightful outside eating area. Pierluigi is the perfect host. When we arrived he invited us to sit down with him in his beautiful garden with a bottle of Prosecco and a lovely selection of local antipasto. He gave us lots of information about the area which was very helpful. Pierluigi and his wife are an absolutely lovely couple, so welcoming and friendly. Every day Pierluigi brought us various treats, either from the bakery or homemade. He is the most delightful, kind and helpful man, and speaks good English. We absolutely loved him and we were sorry to leave at the end of our stay. Lucca is a wonderful town with lots to see and it was great to have the bikes for cycling round the walls and going into town to eat in the evenings. There is a plethora of bars and restaurants to choose from. The cottage is well placed for exploring Tuscany, and it's a short walk or cycle ride into Lucca itself. We cannot praise Pierluigi enough. He does everything to make you feel welcome and we would love to stay there again.

Pierluigi our host made us very welcome with a supper of local foods eg bread, cheese and ham with prosecco. He gave us lots of valuable information about Lucca and it's surrounding area. Maps and info were provided. Our accommodation was as described very clean and well equipped. The bicycles provided gave us easy access to and from Lucca town (10mins).

We had a very enjoyable week at La Capinera. Pierluigi was an excellent host, supplying Prosecco and a selection of Tuscan antipasti when we arrived late on a Saturday evening and he spent ages giving is information and leaflets about all the various local sights, activities, restaurants etc. The house itself is small but very comfortable and well equipped and has a lovely private garden The bikes were a big bonus and I enjoyed a cycle round the city walls each morning. It only takes 5 or 10 minutes to cycle into the city or to the station and 20 to 25 minutes to walk. We had a hire car but didn't have it to use it too much as easy to get the train to Florence, Pisa, Viareggio etc. We did however enjoy drives up to Barga and over the Apuan Alps and to Pistoia with a fascinating underground tour at the ancient hospital . We would strongly recommend making this house a base for exploring this part of Tuscany and would love to return one day.
