Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
The Haven is a perfect getaway for anyone looking to be in nature, whether it’s active outdoor adventure or a restful retreat.

It’s a cozy second story space, comfortably furnished and filled with natural light from windows on three sides. Set amongst two other buildings on a wooded 4.5 acre property, it sits across from our other AirBnB- The Burrow.

The space
Sitting high, the Haven offers peace & privacy as well as wonderful views of the river and surrounding woods.

It has a full kitchen with everything needed to cook your own meals, a high top dining table looking out over the river, a comfortable sitting area with two sofas and a small efficient wood stove. The bedroom is a cozy sleeping nook with wood paneled walls, soft lighting and a new Tuft & Needle queen mattress. The bathroom has been updated with a new shower stall and plenty of built in shelving for easy access to clothing and personal items. The heat source is electric baseboard, which keeps the cottage warm during colder months, and can be supplemented with the wood stove.

The grounds on the property are open and guests are encouraged to explore! There are several wooded trails just out the door. Following the river downstream and meandering through the woods, the mile long trail loop starts at the southern corner of the yard under the prayer flags. During the warmer months I encourage you to take the resident canoe down the winding river out to the pond for swimming, fishing or relaxing. During the coldest months, once the river freezes, walk (microspikes), snowshoe or X-country ski to the pond following the morning sun. Stargazing and relaxation around the fire pit is recommended, as the night sky is brilliant. The fire pit and seating area is shared with the other Airbnb sitting across from The Haven. Guests need to bring their own firewood. It is readily sold as “camp wood” along the roadsides on the drive up or can be purchased at the local hardware and grocery stores. There is plenty of kindling in the surrounding woods to get the fire started.

From the property, it’s a 5 min walk to the trailhead of several amazing hikes listed on AllTrails.

Living in the rural mountains of Maine, I feel passionate about sharing the natural beauty and simplicity that surrounds. I aim to live consciously and sustainably, and feel the accommodations are best suited for like-minded people who love & respect nature, are eco-conscious and self-reliant. With so many options for outdoor adventure just outside the door, I encourage you to read through the guidebook if looking for further information on activities, locations and details.

Where I went to school: Lesley University- Cambridge, MA
My work: Psychotherapist
For the past 25 years, I’ve worked as both a psychotherapist and a yoga/meditation teacher. Guided by a longing to more fully integrate these passions, I set out in search of a place that I could develop into a therapeutic retreat space. In 2019, I discovered this incredible property and have since been slowly renovating it to become a small wellness retreat center. The focus is on interweaving nature, mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and psychedelic-assisted therapy. patchmountaindotcom
