A cracking home from home, The Old Bakehouse Cottage in Sunny Place, Robin Hoods Bay, is a curl-up-with-a-book sort of place with the North Sea just round the corner crashing against the sea walls.
But when the tide retreats the beach is a world of rock pools, fossil hunting and numerous coastal walks will await.
Yorkshire Holiday Cottage 4 star accommodation" exceptional standard of cleanliness, décor and historic feel to the place”.
Fast WIFI, Car Parking permit included. Beach 250 yards

The space
A white-painted former bakehouse on a cobbled walkway called Sunny Place, deep in the labyrinth that is lower “Baytown”,. You enter through the kitchen door to reveal a high vaulted kitchen bedecked with baking memorabilia & artefacts. All you need for a self-catering holiday, including gas hob, oven, washer-drier, and dishwasher.
The lounge, with its wood burning stove soon gets a cosy atmosphere going, with quirky seaside stuff like nautical lamps and pictures. Two huge leather sofas are ideal to chill and relax on.
For your entertainment: A free-view TV . The cottage has a new fast WiFi service which should keep everyone happy. The shower and toilet are on the ground floor which might be important to note that you need to come downstairs to use the loo at night.
On the first floor is a double room with feature bed and old fireplace. The dressing area has room for a cot (provided).
This cottage is ideal for children, and when they find their room right at the top it’s a real treat with new beds and feather duvets
A great place for a “Staycation”
The Old Bakehouse in Robin Hoods Bay, on Yorkshire’s Jurassic Coast so much easier to get to than you think .

Guest access
You get the whole of this 1660 cottage. The outside space is also the ancient lane that is Sunny Place so you do get passers by , but it’s kind of a cul de sac and really very quiet to sit outside with a book and a glass.
Very few people pass by (except at 9pm when the local ghost walk file past for a minute or two)
There are 2 doors and 2 key safes so no worries about getting locked out.

Other things to note
The cottage walls are a bit thin. Please be mindful of neighbours.
The bathroom and WC are on the ground floor. Elderly guests perhaps not suited to the upper level.

Seagulls : they can be noisy when the tide is in and are feeding young which can be an unwelcome early morning call. Ear plugs may be useful! After a while you get used to them and they lull you back to sleep.

Leave your car at the top!
We now don’t advise driving down to the cottage, unless you have a lot of luggage in which case, pull over in the only gap on the bend by the bridge.

It’s one car wide and can be stressful going round a blind bend on a 1 in 2 slope with holidaymakers in the middle of the road.

We have a larger house in the village with its own booking site. If Bakehouse is booked look up Greenfield House listed with Baytown Cottages.

Neighbourhood highlights

Robin Hoods Bay is a unique place. A cluster of seaside cottages clinging to the headland, a wonderful beach and clifftop walks to some great destinations.
It now has little boutique shops, many independent coffee shops and fabulous restaurants and quaint Yorkshire pubs which can get busy at times, but it’s common to share tables if you can’t get your own.
A walking paradise of moors cliffs and beaches
A dog friendly village and beach.
Features in many documentaries Robin Hoods Bay is the most perfectly preserved and unspoiled seaside village.
The beach has no donkeys or beach huts or candy floss stands, but it does have a real ice cream van, fishing boats, a coffee kiosk and a pub ! Perfect
