Our Off Grid Landpod, is the perfect place to stay on our working farm. The stunning views that reach as far as 70 miles, the beautiful sunsets and the bacon sandwhich breakfasts are just a handful of things that make Acklam Farm Stays a totally unique place to visit. With York, Whitby, The North York Moors, Howsham Mill and the coast all close by, there's plenty of opportunity for sightseeing and wild swimming if you desire! Local pubs serving food are situated in the surrounding villages.
The space
Sleeping up to four, our cosy Landpod offers a double bed, a smaller single bunk above and an adults sized futon. With thermal insulation, canvas, and half timber cladded roof we have no doubt you'll be warm enough, but there's a couple of hot water bottles for those who want to brave the winter months! Flip open the waterproof side to bring the open air in, whilst you sip on your morning cup of tea. With a big solar panel outside, there's two USB charging ports inside the pod (but don't get too charging happy) and this also runs the internal LED lighting. With black out blinds and the tranquillity of the countryside, we're sure you'll have a good nights sleep. Bed sheets and pillows are provided but you'll need to bring your own sleeping bag and towels.
For cooking, there's plenty of options and it's all in the great outdoors! Outside, there's a Gas BBQ to use which is £8 a day to rent, or a one ringed gas cooking stove which can be moved. The pod comes with a trunk full of all cooking utensils: pans, kettle, crockery, cutlery, lighters, tea towels, tea & coffees & milk sachets, bottle opener, firelighters, torch and plenty of spare gas for the gas stove. So you won't be short of equipment. There's also your own fire pit to use for the late night marshmallows. We sell logs at £9 a bag.
In the wood, there's a sink for all your washing up needs so you'll always be prepared for every meal. Immediately outside of the Landpod, there is a tap for your water supply and just up from the Landpod, there is a compost loo which is also shared by other glampers- (odour free btw!). There is also an off grid shower in the woods - also used by other glampers. The shower water is heated to the same level as a normal domestic shower, meaning you can comfortably wash in the shower. As it is a well ventilated shower shack (still covered and adhering to modesty!!), we recommend making sure you have your clothes ready to change in to once you turn the water off.
We do not have wifi in the landpod itself, however the phone signal is very good in this area so you will have no trouble connecting to your 4G signal.
If you would like a bacon sandwich for your breakfast we offer this with a yogurt & piece of fruit for £12 & we deliver it to your glamping pod – please book in advance if you would like this. As we're a working farm, you'll see sheep, cattle & our working border collies Meg + Bran.
