Corsica - France!

This rare townhouse is found at the end of the winding pathways of the Landmarked town of Nonza, with no neighbors blocking a 180 degree panorama of the sea. It’s unique in various aspects: the uninterrupted views and direct pathway to the beach below; and the fact it is a freestanding building with stepped gardens in a town where all building huddle up one against the other, up to the 13th century Genovese watch tower. Our house is on the former pathway to the old Monastery.

The space
The entire townhouse and outdoor spaces are for you to enjoy, with no other guests to mingle with, naturally. It is totally private with 180 degrees uninterrupted views over the sea, on three levels, fully renovated several years ago, with all new appliances, air conditioning, wash/dry machines and WIFI, as well. Secured parking is just up the pathway at the Main Street, for which you will have security card access. The interiors were gut renovated, luminous in white plaster on the lower level and a mid-grey for the two upper levels. There are half-bathrooms on each level. En-suite full bathrooms with showers for the two main bedrooms. The kitchen is an open configuration with the living space and the outdoor terrace on the same level. It encourages relaxing views, conversation, privacy and just enjoying the last rays of the setting sun under our wonderful Mediterranean pine.

Please note regarding the room and bedroom configurations:
Ground level- pull out sofa in living room with 1/2 bathroom on this level. This does not count as a full stay bed, but for a young adolescent or visiting one night friend.
1st floor - large private bedroom with King Size bed, three large windows, private shower and WC off this room.
Second bedroom - two twin beds and is privatized from stair access and large bedroom on this level by a heavy curtain. One window facing the sea. Private WC for this transitional bedroom.
Top floor bedroom - double bed, and two large windows with access to a private terrace over looking the sea. Private shower and WC directly accessed from this room.
Due to the summer heat waves that are more and more frequent we have two high powered AC units to move around in addition to the 5 wall mounted air coolers.
Keep shutters and curtains closed during the day to keep the house naturally cool to reduce AC usage.
There is a grill outside for your use, but only by September! Heat wave and lack of rain has required the Mayor to not allowed grill use on our terrace.

An outdoor dining table with two long benches in yellow pine has replaced the black painted table and 4 chairs on the outdoor terrace, that you may see if photos. A large wooden indoor table with using 6 wicker chairs should be kept inside. inside the eat-in kitchen. Three wooden lounge chairs are found on the outdoor terraces. Please note we do not provide sun umbrellas due to the wind or to take to the beach.
Please take all garbage and return house to condition you found it, including putting sheets in washing machine and dishes in dishwasher for you to start. These are required Covid cleaning rules to protect our staff. Thank you.

Nonza, Corsica, France

Our village townhouse is on the Island of Corsica, France in the Mediterranean.
This is the only Landmarked Historic village in the Cap Corse - the wonderful unspoiled northern point of the Island. The village is just 40 minutes from the port town of Saint Florent - called the mini Saint Tropez which is resembles from the 70’s - and where you can find clothing, food, banks and pharmacies - as well as shuttle speed boats to the sandy beaches of the Desert des Agriates, where you can spend the day.
The town of Patrimonio is not to be missed for its vineyards and the village, which you will see just before turning towards the sea and Saint Florent from our place. Above the town is the pass that leads the east side of the CAP to the large town of Bastia, where the ferries arrive from the France or Italy (the pass is worth the stop, as you have a unique panorama of both the east and west coasts of the Island!). In Bastia you will find many historic buildings, the citadelle and museum, the two ports, boutiques and food from around the world as well as night spots. Bastia is only 45 minutes - 18 from our house in Nonza, but be careful with your driving and timing as things seem close but the roads are winding - reason why it is favorite destination for vintage car tours to professional bicycle riders. To the south of Bastia, just 20 minutes via the industrial zone (large malls and building equipment or car rentals) is the airport of Poretta.

“Located on an island of Corsica, Nonza is 108 km (67 miles) away from Ajaccio, 13 km (8 miles) away from Bastia, and 12 km (7.46 miles) away from Saint-Florent. There are many things you can do around Nonza! Visit the small village, Erbalunga (11km, 6.83 miles away), where its unrenovated charm gives you an authentic atmosphere of Old France many historians will greatly appreciate. Or you could stop by Centuri, located 20 km (12 miles) away from Nonza and is home to the largest fishing port on Cap Corse. Undeniably, the many things you can do and the many places you can visit in Nonza makes it a wonderful place to stay if you are in France.”

During your stay

We live in a monastery that we are restored about 35 minute drive for this house, which we restored for renters only - so it has never been our home per se. Thus, in the summer months into the fall, we are busy near Oletta, and can be easily reached if needed. In any case, we will designate, per season, a keyholder and cleaning woman who will be closer to Nonza if you have special issues. For privacy, we try to have ourselves and our staff decide how much interaction you need.

If you want the experience of staying in a 13 century former monastery closer to St Florent, we have been renovating this domaine and Church - Couvent Saint-Francois d’Oletta for 20 years - and offer a few monks rooms with bathrooms and two large 80 sq meter apartments. The domaine includes a garden designed by the owner and a 22 meter swimming pool.
