Sandaig b&b is located on the shores of Loch Nevis in southwestern Knoydart.We are probably one of the most remote b&b's Scotland's, It will take you about 1 hour 30 min. walk from Inverie Pier. The room is on a bed and breakfast basis, evening meals and transfers can be arragend for a extra charge.
Please not:Knoydart is just accessible by passenger ferry (Western Isles Cruises) from Mallaig or a long walk from Kinloch Hourn / Strathan or Glenfinnan. NO CAR ACCESS from the Mainland or Skye.
The space
Sandaig Bed & Breakfast is located in what was St Anthony's Chapel, Sandaig. Rebuilt from the ruins of the old chapel in 1987 as a private home, the building maintains its historic and rustic charm. The chapel was built around 1850 as the centre of the small village of Sandaig Bay. During the highland clearances it was briefly used as place of refuge, as the highlanders were forced to leave their homes and give up the land to sheep farming.

We want to do everything we can to help preserve Knoydart, often referred to as Scotland's last wilderness. We believe in running Sandaig B&B in an as environmentally friendly way as possible, using our own electricity and natural water supply. We are also really keen to minimize the use of motor vehicles. Why not experience nature to the maximum by walking the 1 hour and 30 minutes from the ferry in Inverie? Just keep your luggage light!
We also offer all essentials like wellies, slippers, umbrellas, dog supplies and much more. In addition, we also run a small shop where you are able to buy souvenirs, home made crafts, snacks, lunch packages and non alcoholic drinks.

Taxi transfers Inverie 20-25£
Dinner/Raclette 22£ Children 12£ including salad /main/homemade dessert.
The extras can be paid cash. card or bank transfer.

Neighbourhood highlights
Knoydart is located in the southwestern highlands, between the inlets of Loch Hourn (hell) in the north and Loch Nevis (sky) in the south. The only major settlement is Inverie where about half of the approximately 130 inhabitants of the peninsula live. Inverie houses the famous 'Old Forge' pub, primary school, post office, small shops, tea room, restaurants, vacation rentals, B&B's, brewery and the 'The Table' a local gathering spot.
There are lots of walking/hiking possibilities along the coast or endless hill walking mostly not on footpaths.

Why Knoydart in Scotland?
During our many trips with our motorhome in Europe in the last few years, we always looked around for something new to start with. It should be remote, have lots of nature/animals, a few people and varied weather. We were looking for a project that will help us to learn, grow and challenge ourselves. We wanted to create something new and meaningful to us. Inspired by the many blogs, magazines and articles we read about the Highlands, we started our travels to Knoydart in mid-November 2018. We were welcomed by typical west Highland weather and immediately fell in love with Sandaig and its surroundings. Having a place where deer are in your backyard and seals playing in the waves as you drink your night-cap is a dream come true. Ater wonderful family years in Switzerland we started a new life in the summer 2019 in Scotland. Remote and self-sufficient living is a challenge but also an opportunity to learn and discover new things. We are happy to share the unknown, quiet Scotland and the beautiful nature with our guests.
