A rustic retreat where you can escape the city lights, but yet are only a 15 min drive from the sought after destination of Eau Claire. Travel back in time to days before we had the modern amenities we have come to rely on. There is no electricity (beyond a solar usb charger and outdoor solar lights). There is also no running water.
This hand-milled cabin features oil lantern lighting, a micro wood-burning stove and a composting toilet. The stove is large enough for a percolating coffee pot.

The space
When you want to get away and feel a million miles from everyone, Elk Creek Cabin is where you need to be. Situated on a Class 1 trout stream, the soothing sounds of the creek are enough to help anyone relax. Surround yourself with the sounds of birds, frogs, and a bubbling creek all will basking under the stars. Head into Eau Claire to enjoy the culture, rich arts, or head to one of Eau Claire's famous music festivals. Afterward come back and unwind. It's truly the best of both worlds.

The cabin is located on a triangle piece of property that has roads on both sides. Most people find themselves surprised after being at the bonfire for an hour or so and car drives by. They often don't realize or remember that they are not in the middle of nowhere, although it often feels like that.

We are in the country and the only disclaimer I can offer on behalf of our neighbors is that they do what country living folks do. You may hear a barking dog, or a loud diesel drive past, or you may even hear the neighbor doing target practice in the distance. For us, its as ambient as city traffic is for city folk, but I feel like I should still mention it.

During your stay

Feel free to call, text or wander up to the house if you need anything at all.

We enjoy meeting our guests so you can always shoot us a message if you are hanging around the bonfire and if we are available we will wander down for a beverage 😊
