The TinPug Southwest Michigan Getaway is a peaceful cedar-shingled cottage in the country. Only 90 minutes from Chicago and 30 minutes from Notre Dame, you feel like you have shifted from noise to nature in the blink of an eye. Swimming lake and walking trails just a short stroll. Antique Shops and Vineyards within a short drive. The gas fireplace and deep cedar hot-tub can warm a cool evening, while the outdoor fire-pit and screen porch surrounded by green offer great areas for entertaining.

The space

This space has its own entrance and provides complete privacy. The front studio of the cottage is available for Airbnb guests while the rear studio is occupied primarily by the owners.

Guest access

Guests have private access to the front unit, which includes a large fully-equipped kitchen, queen bedroom, open living-room with double sofa-bed, full bathroom with tub/shower and free laundry use. The 3-season screen porch with skylights, hot-tub and extra single sofa-bed.

Interaction with guests

The owners are often available in the rear unit - to offer recommendations, provide assistance with any issues and to refill supplies as needed. However, interaction is by choice of the visiting guests and is entirely optional. In addition, if the owners are on property, someone may be available for airport/train pickup in South Bend, paid "sober" rides to/from local vineyards or breweries and relaxing massage services in the hot-tub area.

Other things to note

Dogs are welcome. There is a medium dog door from the bedroom which leads to a fenced dog play area. Access to kayak, paddleboard and yard toys also included. There is a peek of the lake through the trees from the front porch and yard. To swim and paddle, just a short walk down the lake road. Don't forget to bring your bikes! SW Michigan has many miles of beautiful paved country roads! Nearby Niles has a 7 mile paved bike trail on gorgeous St. Joseph River!

The Tin Pug is in a great location for visiting wineries, Lake Michigan parks, and also just relaxing at the cottage itself! Very well equipped kitchen with above average pots and pans, also access to spices and oils, vinegars, etc. A mixer and processor if needed along with some high quality cookbooks if you need any excellent recipes!! The bed was extremely comfortable, as was the hot tub. The library alone in this cottage is a PERK, if I hadn't wanted to get out in the incredible weather we had, I could have read for weeks! We enjoyed the fire pit and believe me, stargazing is plentiful here!! Great hot water in the shower, comfy towels and bed linens, and special treats like a bottle of wine and makings for s'mores all ad to the ambiance! We will definitely visit again, this trip we spent time at Warren Dunes, Round Barn and Lemon Creek wineries which are very lively on fall Saturdays! Thanks for a much needed rest, Natalie and Wendy!!!

Natalie was such a gracious host. She was out of town when we stayed here, yet she took the time to check in and make sure we had everything we needed. The place as very clean and cozy and the instructions were in depth and clear. Highly recommend staying here.

Natalie's place was a great getaway for my friends trip to Michigan. The house itself was very clean and in a quaint neighborhood on a lake. Restaurants, wineries, and the Warren sand dunes are all within a 20 minute drive. There were nice touches in the house including vegetables from her garden, wine, smores, dvd's, a porch, fireplace/outside fire pit and hot tub. I would recommend this place to friends, families, or couples looking for a fun, relaxing weekend. Natalie was a great host and made herself available if we needed any help or recommendations.

A beautiful house in a nice quiet setting. Natalie was very helpful and friendly (the extra treats from the garden were a nice touch!). A great place to bring a small dog, and we loved the pugs!

My boyfriend and I desperately needed a few days away and this place was perfect and peaceful. The hosts were kind and accessible. A Stone's throw from beautiful wineries and restaurants, and the place itself is quaint with modern day luxuries and amenities. We certainly took advantage of cooking on the grill, s'mores on the fire pit, and nights in the hot tub. We can't wait to go back!

Natalie was an amazing host! She answered any and all questions I had prior to our trip. Also it was our wedding night and she provided champagne and s'mores! The next morning we were able to chat with her and she is such a a warm and genuine person! She provided us with cds from her band and offered us tomatos straight from the garden! As for the house it was perfect size, the hot tub on the enclosed porch felt amazing at the end of a long night of dancing and smelt of fresh cedar. The bed was so comfortable and although we were busy celebrating with family and friends we would love to come back and experience the lake life which looked very beautiful!

What a great experience, I can't say enough. Location: close to beaches, vineyards, etc. Wonderful accommodations, loved the extra touches...fresh veggies from garden, local coffee, smores and wine from local vineyard.... all were great touches. Facilities: Clean, the bed was so comfortable, great neighborhood to walk, and we enjoyed our time just relaxing in peace and quiet. I cook and couldn't have wanted for anything, kitchen is well equipped. Property is gorgeous, fire pit, lounging areas and plenty of space for dog to chase Frisbee and run. Host: qNatalie and Wendy leave you to do and be on your own, however, they were available the whole time to answer questions and help. Natalie is so conscientious about her business and wants to improve your visit in anyway possible.

I am a musician and my wife owns her own business. We love to travel, play music, garden, eat at new restaurants and be entertained by our pugs! We have been a guest at several airbnb properties, and look forward to offering our guests the same great experiences we have had. Our life motto-" Be kind to everyone you meet-we are all fighting the same battle."
We have a few vintage travel trailers that we use and rent out for use at area campgrounds.
