A welcoming comfortable Maison de Maître tastefully renovated keeping the French style mixed with a touch of modern. The house sits on 4 acres within the French countryside north of Bordeaux surrounded by Cognac vines and sunflowers.
You will love the big sociable spaces in this house, the large kitchen and adjoining lounge, four large bedrooms, with ensuite bathrooms, one bedroom has easy accessibility. Outside there is plenty of space, including a great pool and terrace.
The space
This is a great house for getting together with family and friends for your summer holiday or a spring weekend with plenty of space to sit and relax inside or out. There is a large, modern sociable kitchen with a lovely dining area. The kitchen has French doors that lead out to the terrace for when you fancy al fresco eating and a barbeque that's available for your use. There's a large comfortable (and cool in the summer) lounge which has a cosy wood fire in the winter or cooler spring nights.
The house has a separate office space with fibre internet to enable you to extend a weekend or your summer break or keep in touch with the office.
We are family friendly and can provide cots and highchairs. The upstairs windows have child chains on them and we have stair gates available on request. Some rooms will take an extra bed for a child, please ask if you would like an extra bed in a room when you book.
In the summer, there is a large 10m x 5m pool with an alarm which is surrounded by grass and sun lounges and shades for your private use. The pool is unheated. There is also table tennis available.
Guest access
You will need a car to get around the area and reach the house. The quieter local roads lead you to ports, beaches, neighbouring towns including pretty coastal villages and large ports of Royan and La Rochelle, as well as vineyards and Cognac with ease.
Plenty of car parking with easy access to the house.
Other things to note
The renovation of the house and grounds were finished in 2021 before welcoming our first guests. We have a large family and so when the house is not accommodating guests we are welcoming our family.
The owner is a Chef with over 35 years experience, and you are welcome to book his services (upon request) for any special occasions or for a dining in experience or to provide an oven ready chef’s dish with bread and salad or vegetables. Perfect for the first-night arrival or if you feel like a night off from cooking!
Weekend stays
During the late winter and spring we offer the whole house availability for a minimum 2 night weekend. An earlier check in, or later check out may be available.
Summer stays
We are open to being flexible with days of arrival and departure with a minimum 7 day stay. We are are also open to agreeing arrangements which leave a day in between guests, and so allowing an earlier check in or travel on a less busy day, but ask that only one day is left between bookings.
Cleaning at the end of your stay is included within the rental charge, but we do ask that you leave the house in a clean and tidy state. Cleaning products and toilet rolls are also included in the rental.
Please note that the wood burning hot tub is not available if the pool is open, or without prior arrangement, and there are no facilities for charging electric cars at the house, although charging facilities are available at local supermarkets.
You may see Alfie the cat, although he is a little shy, and there is a farm adjacent to the land and occasionally you may hear farmyard noises and dogs barking.
