The space
THE APARTMENT:
It's an unique fully renovated penthouse, carefully decorated, within a beautiful and charismatic 19th Century building, which was also totally recovered. On the 5th floor, with elevator, Air conditionig and plenty of light, always keeping its historical soul and features. It's charm and character is due to the tasteful combination of stylish design and the enhancement of traditional architecture, such as wooden floors and Portuguese tiles. The decoration also combines modern and sophisticated design with vintage pieces. Big windows, balconies and the rooftop terrace gives this apartment a very special brightness & charm.

It has 3 bedrooms, one is on the mezanine. Two bedrooms with big windows and access to a balcony and 1 bedroom on the Mezzanine floor. On common areas you will find an open space with a fully equipped design kitchen with access to the terrace, and a beautiful living and dining room with big windows to access the terrace and enjoy a fantastic river view. The apartment is fully equipped, with dishwasher, clothes washing machine, air conditioning, cable TV, Wifi internet (fiber - high speed) and quality bed linen. All to provide our guests the best time possible in Lisbon!

The Rooftop terrace! This place is special, besides the amazing river view where you see the statue of Cristo Rei and the famous Lisbon bridge, you will find a big comfortable sofa, strategically elevated on the terrace for your relaxing times. It has also a table and high chairs for you to enjoy a meal or a sunset drink with friends and family…The sunset is speechless with the sun reflecting on the river and all the colors of the sky .


THE LOCATION:
Ideally located, just a few meters from the Sé Cathedral (200m) and very close to Sao Jorge Castle in Alfama/ Sé district. The apartment's street is very nice, with great places to eat, including the most well known Fado restaurants.
Alfama is Lisbon's most emblematic quarter and one of the most rewarding for walkers and photographers thanks to its medieval alleys and outstanding views. Wander down through Alfama's steep, narrow, cobblestoned streets which gives it that authentic, typical charm. Here you will capture all of Lisbon's spirit, you will hear the sounds of Fado coming out of a restaurant, taste authentic traditional meals, and touch some dazzling tilework… these are some of the trademarks of the most photographed area of Lisbon.
You will be at walking distance to Rossio, Baixa, Chiado, Bairro Alto, the city castle, the city most amazing viewpoints, and all other historical sights. In this area you will find lots of traditional and beautiful shops, great restaurants, esplanades, bars, terraces with a views and all of this just a step away from home!

Other things to note
Have a great time and profit from the nice apartment and neighborhood. Though, please respect all the care I put in the refurbishment of the flat and the decoration. Also please respect the neighbours, its a residential building and neighbors need to rest, please dont make noise after 11pm. I hope guests treat my apartment as their own. :)

Check in is normally after 15h00 and check out until 11h00. If I don't have guests before and after you, you are welcome to come in earlier and leave the apartment later on (on request). If I have guests you can always leave your lugagge from 11am onwards on the check in day :)

Lisbon - Alfama - Sé Cathedral Area

The city becomes increasingly iconic and picturesque, the further you delve into its historic and medieval districts. As you walk along the stone-paved, narrow and often steep streets of Alfama, you are literally transported back in time. Alfama was historically the seedy and impoverished neighbourhood of Lisbon but today is a favourite with tourists. Alfama has the strongest sense of community of all of Lisbon's districts
Perched at the very top of this hill is Castelo S. Jorge (St. George's Castle), built during the 7th Century.
The castle occupies a strategic position and offers unrivalled views of the city. On your way there, you will bump into some unique peoples, stories and traditions. The popular and yet melancholy music of Fado infuses the air and tells you that you are in the Alfama.
Visit the Sé Cathedral and don´t forget to stop at the various viewpoints along the way. Take a seat on one of the garden benches and drink in the landscape before you.
Enjoy the pure pleasure of the riverfront. The Tejo River is one of Lisbon's most striking features, thanks to the freshness and light it bestows on the city.

The typical and famous 28 tram stops right in front of the Sé and will take you through the narrow streets of the Alfama and most interesting sights of Lisbon's historical and architectural heritage. In one direction, it goes up Graça (really nice views) and down to the multicultural Martim Moniz neighbourhood. On the other, it goes through Baixa (historical lower town), up the shopping district Chiado, and past São Bento and Estrela – finally arriving in Campo de Ourique, a neighbourhood known for having a great quality of life as well as nice restaurants and cafés. The metro is nearby too – depending where on the neighbourhood you are, you can either catch it on Terreiro do Paço, Baixa/Chiado, or Martim Moniz

If you wish to visit Estoril, Cascais or Sintra, the train stations are also at walking distance in Cais do Sodré Station (10 minutes). To Belem you should also take this train.

AIRPORT: The house is 15 minutes (7km) from the airport and the best way to arrive is by taxi, more comfortable and direct (around 10€).

The flat is in the very heart of the city, in the Fado´s neighborhood, near the river, so take advantage of this and explore Lisbon, it´s hills and mysteries. Walking is the best way to discover the city:
