Independent home in the Irish Channel. Half of a shotgun double. Within 10 blocks of over 20 bars and restaurants. 1 bed, 1 bath, plus kitchen, dining, and living room. Pull out sofa can accommodate additional guests. Lots of light. Classic porch.
This home was built in the 1890s. Many original architectural details are intact, including four fireplaces (decorative only) and hardwood floors throughout. It is a classic New Orleans style shotgun where each room connects to the next through a main walkway. It is fully independent from the other side of the house, but it does share a wall down the middle.
There is one bedroom with a queen size bed. The sofa in the living room pulls out into another queen. I'd say the house comfortably fits four guests, but you won't have a ton of privacy. (You have to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom.)
There is wireless internet, which works better in the front of the house (living, dining) than in the back (bedroom).
I've had tenants living (happily) in this space for the past 4+ years. No major complaints from them, with the understanding that this is an old house so it is not perfectly insulated, etc., although there is central air and heat which works well.

This is a GREAT neighborhood. Tree-lined and residential. Walking distance to so many wonderful places to eat, drink, and have fun. Lots of cute stores with a variety of shopping options along Magazine Street - ranging from clothing boutiques to furniture import stores.
Need coffee? Starbucks is four blocks away. If you're willing to venture outside of your coffee comfort zone there are many lesser known but equally delicious local spots. Try Hi Volt, Reservoir, or Mojo.
Restaurant options are pretty much unlimited. Sake (sushi), Juan's Flying Burrito (Creole taqueria), and Lilly's (Vietnamese) are a few of my favorites. Basin has yummy oysters and other locally harvested seafood. All of the places mentioned above are within a 10-minute walk.
Ready to venture out? This location is easily accessible to uptown (Audubon Park) and downtown (French Quarter) - approximately a 10-minute drive in each direction.
There is a bus that runs along Magazine Street in either direction, with a stop two blocks away. You can also walk up to the St. Charles streetcar line in about 12 minutes.
The whole place is yours. Please enjoy the front porch too. There is a table outside that will chill your wine for you - just add ice.

Originally from California, I moved to New Orleans ten years ago. I've loved living in this great city ever since. I work in a public elementary school, and in my free time I enjoy yoga, biking, baking, reading, netflix-ing, gardening, and of course exploring all the wonders New Orleans has to offer.
Five years ago I bought a traditional-style shotgun double home. It's basically two independent houses that share a wall down the middle. The house was built in 1890! Needless to say it has lots of old-world charm. It also keeps me busy with the occasional project. As an airbnb host I am right next door if you need anything.
