There is free parking at the property, lots of great walks and cycle rides nearby, including the undercliff path to Brighton. There's room to store your own bikes or canoes. The space
Pear Tree Cottage is a compact space with everything you need for a short stay. It is located in our back garden, approximately 30 meters from our house, but secluded by trees and pretty private from all neighbours. It is a quiet residential area with excellent bus links to the city of Brighton.
There is a small but well equipped kitchen, with 2 electric hobs, small oven/microwave and fridge with small freezer compartment. Tea and sugar (white ) are provided. A cafeteria is available along with saucepans and frying pan to cook with, along with basic utensils. If you wanted to cook something more elaborate, then we are happy to lend you some extra dishes & pans. There is a kettle & toaster in the cottage.
Fire extinguisher and fire blanket provided. Smoke / heat alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are installed. Within the cottage is a toilet, sink and shower, there is a double bed on the mezzanine and a double sofa bed, which pulls out easily, with anti-allergy pillows. There is a mattress topper for the sofa bed. There's an extendable table for eating, working or playing card games (some provided, please leave for other guests to enjoy). A TV with DVD player only and a speaker to play your own music / listen to podcasts. (some DVD's available to watch) There's also a CD player and radio. Thermostat radiator where you just use + and - buttons to turn it up/down to your chosen heat and secure wi-fi. Iron & ironing board available on request.
The kitchen and bathroom are off the main room. Not ideal for people over 6ft, unless your prepared to duck in the bathroom & kitchen (190 cm high) or children aged 1 - 5 years due to mezzanine, up to parents discretion.
As the sofa bed is in the lounge and the other double bed is on the mezzanine you are essentially all sleeping within the one room.
You have access to a quiet garden, outside seating, barbeque area and fire pit (wood and charcoal for sale, there is a fee to hire them if you bring your own materials or we can provide them, ideally give us 24 hours notice as they are stored at our house) You have your own entrance so you can come and go as you please. There are double doors to the cottage from the garden you can open up.
We sometimes have Badgers and Foxes visit the garden, so you might be lucky and see one! (Don't leave your shoes outside, the young foxes will steal them!) You can often hear the owl at night.

Guest access
There is a parking space on our drive you can use and/or free parking on our street. Please park in front of the wood pile. So we can fit our vehicles besides yours.

Other things to note
The beach at the end of the road has rock pools, sea glass you can hunt for, hag stones and even the odd seal has been spotted basking on the local beach (sept / Oct 2022) and swimming just off the shore. There are bus stops at the end of our road / under 5 mins walk, that run to Brighton & Eastbourne every 10 mins during the day.

My work: Self employed.
Lives in Telscombe Cliffs, United Kingdom
I'm Shirley and I live in Telscombe Cliffs with my partner Mike, our daughter and dog. I moved to East Sussex in 1999 for a teacher training course and am yet to leave! I grew up in North Devon, spending a lot of time playing in brass bands after being taught to play by my dad. I went to uni in Liverpool before moving to Brighton. I taught Art and Music in secondary schools for 16 years, then left after my daughter was born to create my own businesses. We have spent the last 3 years building Pear Tree Cottage and are now going to rent it out as an air BnB, I also created and run my own baby and toddler music group, Bambino Beatz and 'The Arty Bird Studio' so you can book an art class during your stay, check out our FB page. I love anything art related, going to galleries, sculpture parks, watching Grayson's Art club, Sky Arts landscape artist of the year, or creating my own art again now we have finished our building project! I use to go rock climbing, haven't had chance to do it since mini me arrived, but hopefully soon. I love travelling and learning languages, so can speak some basic French and Spanish, although very rusty! I play in Brighton and Hove City Brass.
