This was a great find. Probably one of the best values in all of Rome. Based on the price and the type of modern accommodations, you can't beat this place. You can tell that Giorgio cares about offering the best experience to his clients. I was greeted and welcomed just as planned and he quickly explained the ins and outs of the room as well as the neighborhood. Great coffee, a small breakfast, and a quick chat with Giorgio and I was on my way. The Garbatella neighborhood is a perfect setting for those that want to experience a little bit of true Roman life. Not very noisy but not a dead neighborhood. Great Pizza within a couple of blocks. Little stores to grab whatever you may need also right there at your feet. Then a quick walk (10-15 minutes) to the Garbatella Metro and I am off to experience Rome. The Metro will take you to all of Romes most popular sites. By far, the best way to get around Rome is the Metro. You may also choose to walk by the Caracalla Baths or to Circus Maximus or the Colosseum and other great tourist spots if you feel like going for 20 to 45 minute walk. This place is great, because you can go wherever you want without dealing with the headaches and noise of being right in the middle of the historical area.
When I return home, I find my place spotless and smelling fresh. Fresh linens and a spotless bathroom. I had a bottle of wine that I kept in the mini fridge. I would poor myself a glass then go hang out on the patio. Not a terrific view but nice enough, you can see the top of St. Peters. Then to relax, going back to the air-conditioned room (especially in August) was a treat. After relaxing, I checked out the Pizzeria or walked the Circonvallazione Ostienze. Btw, there is a great spot (restaurant) right at the Garbatella Metro.
Needless to say, it was a great trip and experience. This is a great place for those trying to balance price, convenience, and a little peace and quiet.
