Experience the traditional Finnish lake cottage life. This log cottage was built in the 1800's with hand carved logs. It is located on a beautiful lake shore with fantastic views. Here you can enjoy nature and total peace just a 10 min. car drive from Savonlinna centre. You have a good chance of spotting the endangered Saimaa ring seal, often swimming in front of the cottage. Both the cottage and the sauna are just a few meters from the lake shore. There is a rowing boat for guests to use.

The space
The cottage is situated on a big lot that opens up to south. At the back side of the lot there is a high hill protecting from the north wind. Around the cottage there is just forest, mostly pine trees and some birches. Both the cottage and the private sauna are situated just a few meters from the lake shore. The cottage has two floors. Downstairs a living area with a fireplace and a small kitchenette. Upstairs are the sleeping spaces with two beds and one bed-sofa. Upstairs there is also a balcony opening with beautiful views to the lake. This is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee in the sun and admire the views and listen to birds chirp.

The cottage is best accessed by car. From Savonlinna railwaystation the distance is 12 km.

Other things to note
The cottage only has cold running water that comes through a pump from the lake. The drinking water needs to be brought with you.
The toilet is in a separate building and it's a dry compost toilet.
There is no shower. We wash ourselves in the sauna and the water to the sauna is taken with buckets from the lake.
The cottage has electric heating but if it gets very cold (minus degrees) upstairs can be chilly.
Bed linen and towels are provided.

The cottage is located in the Saimaa lake district and very close to the charming summer city of Savonlinna. It is only a 10-15 min. drive to Savonlinna but still the cottage is in the middle of the nature and untouched lake landscape.
There are plenty of sights and activities in the area. You can among other things rent a canoe, play golf, go horseback riding, wander in the forest, pick wild berries, go fishing, do shopping. There are also excellent restaurants in the area where you can taste the local flavors.

We like to spend time at the cottage relaxing, fishing, walking in the forest, picking berries and mushrooms.
