About this listing
Fully furnished room in a lovely Edinburgh flat, within the beautiful and lively Stockbridge area. The room has a pleasant aspect over looking the garden. The flat itself is in a lovely Victorian building a few blocks from great cafes, bars.
The flat is in a traditional Scottish tenement, built in 1898. Built with quite generous proportions with high ceiling and larger rooms. The flat still maintains many of its original features, like fireplaces doors and ceiling covings. It has a pleasant aspect over looking a park across the road. It is a very bright flat, due to it very large windows.
I should point out I have one small, well behave and friendly dog called Richard. He’s a border terrier a very Scottish breed..!
Interaction with guests
Normally I will be there is let you into the flat and show you around. I will layout a simple continental style breakfast but then leave you to help yourselves rather than hovering around. I will normally be leaving the flat quite early to go to work. I will be happy to give advice on places to visit and things to do in this beautiful city ; )
Stockbridge is a vibrant area with lots of good cafes bars and restaurants. It was consider the more bohemian area of the New Town in Edinburgh attracting many artists to its more relaxed at atmosphere. There are many beautiful parks near by too, Inverleith Park and the incredible botanic gardens.
We are also very close to the Modern Art Gallery, from which you can walk down the Waters of Leith back to Stockbridge, one of my favorite strolls, it is beautiful.
It is only also a 10 to 15 min stroll to princess street, over the wonderful Dean Bridge.
Walking is the best way to get around Edinburgh as there is so much to see. The buses are excellent too, £1.50 to get you anywhere in Edinburgh, very simple. If you have a chance to take the tram I would recommend it, its a wonderful way to get around. Even though it did cost fortune to build..!! ; )
You can park for free outside my flat at the weekends. It is metered during the week max stay 4 hrs. There is however free parking about half a mile away up East Fettes Avenue past the turning for Inverleith Place
It's easy to get to my place from the airport. Just take the airport bus or tram to the West End in Edinburgh. Then it's a 10/15 min walk to my flat. (5min taxi) Mostly down hill too..!
I’m originally from Oxford, and have been living in Edinburgh for the past 8 years. I love my work as a documentary filmmaker, and it certainly keeps me busy. When I’m not working I like to travel and go on wee adventures myself..! My favourite trips have been, amongst others, Vancouver, Buenos Aires, and also the Western Isles here in Bonnie Scotland..! I also love running and hiking, and there are plenty of lovely places to do that here in Edinburgh and its surroundings ; )
