The space

Eco house Horvat is a charming wooden house ideal for relaxation located on a peaceful hill just above Spa&Wellness center Terme Jezercica in Donja Stubica, Croatia. The house is very cosy, decorated with lots of love, and we are very proud of our beautiful garden.

While decorating the house we put special emphasis on the details of Croatian history and tradition and that’s why the house has already won several awards in regional competitions for eco house and garden (award Krapina Zagorje County "Eco House of 2007." and award for the “Zagorje family tradition Garden of 2007. and 2011.”).

Guest access

Addition to the serve room, bathroom and fully equipped kitchen, you can use the barbecue on the terrace and to the ground peculiar cooking utensils in nature. The space is equipped with TV, radio (CD, MP3, USB), internet/WiFi and computer, the house has a garage if you’re coming here with a car. Also, we provided pool and sauna discounts for our guests in the local Spa & wellness center.

Special desires we will be happy to satisfy!

We had a really two weeks at Vid's place. Although I lived in Croatia in the past, he and Marijo were very useful with information, and left nothing to chance. The house is just like in the photos. It was very hot when we were there but the house stayed cool, unlike concrete apartments. A blackbird sat on her nest outside our window, and after a week the chicks hatched out. The neighbourhood cats were friendly, and the trees around the house make shady places to sit. We walked a few times on Slijeme, went to Trakoscan, Veliki Tabor and Plitvice, and walked down the hill to the thermal baths, but we mostly stayed around the house reading and relaxing. It is hard to believe that Zagreb is so close - Donja Stubica is Zagreb's alter ego!

Our visit at Vid's was great! Our welcome was really very kind and friendly, the house is very nice build on a beautiful location. Vid also offers discount-tickets for the swimming-paradise at the foot of the hill. For our purpose our stay was great and I can recommend Vid as a contact when you are looking for a place in Croatia to stay!

The house was exactly as advertised, which is good. Although in a residential neighborhood, you still feel very secluded, so you can easily relax. There is no air conditioning, but many windows and plenty of breeze! The house itself is cozy and comfortable, and within a few minutes of restaurants and things to do with kids. I would definitely stay here again but for longer so we could explore the area more, and do some outdoor cooking! Thanks for everything, Vid and Marijo!!

Vid was a great host. He met us, brought us to the property, and showed us the property. Everything you would need was included. It really was a great experience. A++ for the property and Vid's hospitality.

Very friendly and the house is perfectly located. suits very good for 4 people, even more. So quiet and cosy! House full of charm. The guest was very accomodated and gave helpful advice to drive down to Split to avoid traffic jam.

Vid and his brother met us at their house (which has been their family holiday house), and were very welcoming and helpful. This is a whole house for use by the guests, with a lounge/ kitchen/ bathroom on the ground floor and 3 bedrooms upstairs. It is in a semi-rural location on the edge of a small town ideally located to explore the area (by car). The house is wooden and creaks on the floorboards, but we think this gives it a nostalgic homely feel. It is very roomy and comfortable to stay in. Parking was in the street outside the door. This area of Croatia is often overlooked by tourists, which is a shame as it is a spectacular location- think of fairy-tales and castles. We can think of no better place to stay to explore the area. Highly recommended.

I'm a sport journalist from Zagreb, I enjoy traveling, cooking and going to rock concerts. You could say I'm an outdoor type of person because I love spending my free time in the nature.

I've been to many great places but my biggest wish is to visit New Zealand.
