Welcome to Sydney!
Question: Where does one of the founders of Airbnb stay when they come to Sydney?
Answer: The Shed studio in Redfern.
Why: Because the Airbnb team in Sydney must have thought it was the number one listing for Sydney!!
This modern studio apartment has been converted from an old tin shed in the trendy area of East Redfern, Sydney. The studio comes with a queen size bed, TV/DVD player, small kitchenette with microwave/oven and two cooktops, music dock for ipod, hair dryer in bathroom, iron and board and a lovely view from the coreten steel box windows over Redfern.
The shed itself has only just been completed and has already become part of the "architect bike tour" in Sydney where the Sydney Morning Herald described it as "a little bit of magic on a Redfern Lane Way". It is definitely something a bit different and if you like old things and new architecture, you will love staying in The Shed.
Redfern itself is just 10mins by bus to the city from a bus stop literally 50m away on the next street. The apartment is 2 minutes walk to trendy Danks Street where there are lots of cafes and galleries, and 5 minutes walk to the food mecca of Sydney, Crown Street Surry Hills. If you are staying in Sydney to sample the food of some of the best chefs in the world, then this apartment is ideal for you.
There is unlimited parking on the street outside the shed which you can usually find a park in and if not, I can give you the designated park for the house.
If staying longer than a week there will be a clean done weekly and new lined supplied each week.
The shed is only rented for two nights over the weekend (Friday, Saturday Sunday). I am sorry but I don't take two night bookings during the week. The shed is also used as my office space on occasions so I don't tend to accept bookings that are less than a week too far out.

Thanks and look forward to meeting you!
I think I found the best place to stay in Sydney. Highly recommended! The location is amazing and the neighborhood is the best. It's a beautiful space and had everything I could ask for. Don't think about it, just book it!
Jane was a great host, thank you!

Great place! Fantastic location! Comfortable bed and a treat to stay here. No wonder it's always booked. Highly recommended!
janes place was ever so tidy and central for my stay in sydney, the building itself is eccentric and edgy and inside had everything i needed. Jane was kind and responded promptly with any questions i had. The place was well equipped with information from restaurants to transport. Would recommend jane and her hip pad for anyone visiting sydney.
There is not much to add to all the previous comments: Not only the shed itself is a real gem located in a very nice area, but also Jane is an exceptional wonderful host!
The Cool Shed in Redfern, Sydney far exceeded our high expectations. Back in April 2013 when we looked into finding self-catering accommodation within a reasonable distance from the University of Sydney (c35 minutes on foot ) we searched the Airbnb site and came across this gem. This was our first experience of booking accommodation through Airbnb.
We rented the Studio on the first floor of The Shed for 7 weeks from October to November. For the quality of facilities, layout and design, comfort and location The Shed is brilliant. Architecturally, The Shed has the 'wow' factor. Jane the owner, despite her busy schedule as a film producer, was very helpful and responsive.
Locationally, The Shed could not have been better. It's close to Danks Street and Phillips Street and the range of convenience food shops, quality cafés and restaurants. Also nearby, Surrey Hills offers an even greater range of foodie outlets and is only a few minutes away by bus or on foot. Jane's recommendations for where to eat for Brekkie, lunch and Dinner were spot on.
Our favourites were: For Brekkie or Lunch we reckon that Twig, on Cleveland/Young is a must and the Delizie deli-cafe off Bourke Street is remarkable value and offers quality coffee and Italian food. Delizie's evening meals are great, particularly their Spuntini on Fridays.
Also, The Shed is close to bus routes e.g. you can get to Sydney's Circular Quay for the ferries, and the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and Botanical Gardens and much, much more in only 20 minutes. Buy a Mybus2 ticket for 10 journeys.
All in all, we had a terrific time in Sydney and The Shed was the perfect base for us, providing stylish and comfortable accommodation in a neighbourhood that is full of character and highly accessible to/by public transport. Late Spring with the purple jacaranda in bloom is a perfect time to visit Redfern and stay in The Shed.

We had a lovely time staying in Jane's shed! It was clean and had everything we needed, including books, dvds, maps of the area and restaurant recommendations. The shed is close to everything, amazing cafes and restaurants just a short walk away. We had a lovely break, so thank you!
Recently had to pop up to Sydney to catch up with friends and this was the perfect place!
Great location in a fabulous neighborhood full of bars and restaurants. It was right around the corner from the bus which take 20mins to the city.
Jane made checking in easy and was always there if we needed a hand with anything.
We just spent 8 days in Sydney to participate in the first edition of Sydney Contemporary art fair and everyone I talked to knew about this amazing architectural jewel of Redfern. Not only was I satisfied with the comfort offered to me, I was also proud it was my home for over a week. I couldn't recommend anything else with such certainty. It was definitely everything it promised to be and much more.
