Comfortable home, beautiful mountain views, and convenient location. We were looking for a spot that was close to the downtown but provided a more secluded (although not too secluded) mountain setting with an outdoor amenity as our group planned a stay for four nights and wanted to balance both the town and relaxing at the house.
Pros: Driving directions from Sydney were spot on, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps also accurate, and Uber drivers seemed to have no problem. An Uber ride was about $10-12. House was decently clean minus some dust and cobwebs. Beds were comfortable and rooms/upstairs loft were plenty big. Kitchen had pretty much everything we needed except dish detergent (the box was near empty).
Cons: Unfortunately, the hot tub did not work properly. It had issues staying on and heating to a normal hot tub temperature. This was a big disappointment for us as the we ultimately chose this home for the hot tub (there are so many great mountain Airbnb options but not many featured a hot tub). We contacted Sydney as soon as we checked in regarding the problem and she attempted to help us troubleshoot via Airbnb messenger but we still didn't have any luck throughout our stay and back/forth communication. While no repairman was sent to assist, Sydney was kind enough to provide us with a small refund for the inconvenience.
Another thing to note is that the second bathroom on the top floor does not feature a practical shower. Although, it is in fact a full bathroom with a toilet, sink, and tub present, you can't really use the tub as a shower. The tub is nestled into the corner of the A-frame with a handheld shower device attached in the middle, but it's attached mid-height so in order to bathe in this bathroom you'd either (a) take a bath (probably an uncomfortable one) or (b) hold the hand held shower head yourself as you awkwardly maneuver around the space. Simply standing under the shower head is not an option. So keep in mind that although this home does have two full baths, it's more functional as a 1.5 bath. Luckily, since my group was well-acquainted and woke up around the same time, we were still able to work around these minor disappointments.
If you're looking for a home that is convenient to downtown Asheville but nestled away somewhere beautiful on the mountains, this is a good option. If you're choosing homes based on having two full baths and/or hot tubs, this one might not be the best choice.
