Neighbourhood highlights

Just imagine, staying in the centre of ancient Rye in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside. Rye itself is a quintessentially English town steeped in centuries of history attracting visitors from all over the world.

Mermaid Street is most famous for its picturesque cobbles and 15th century cottages and the infamous Mermaid Inn. From St Mary's church you can climb your way up the clock tower and enjoy bracing views of Rye and Rye Harbour. Rye High Street is home to a number of art galleries and excellent independent shops. For retro music lovers, a visit to Grammar Records is not to be missed. At the bottom of the town in Strand Quay and Cinque Port Street is a treasure trove of antique shops to forage through for vintage and retro finds. Rye holds a traditional market on Thursdays in the Cattle Market car park and also has a farmer's market in Strand Quay on Wednesday mornings. For foodies, you really are spoilt for choice in terms of award winning restaurants. *** We have a special connection with the award winning Landgate Bistro and can organise for food to be cooked and served to you personally at The Find. **** History comes alive in Rye with a visit to the Rye museum, the gun gardens and Landgate arch itself offering a photographer's paradise.

In terms of beaches, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve offers a place to escape from it all for those looking for bracing walks along an unspoilt rugged beach. From Rye Harbour you can see right across to Camber Sands and provides yet another great place to take some amazing photos.

Rye is a popular destination for those that enjoy walking and rambling as well as many routes for the cyclists among you. (Bikes can be hired locally in town.)

Whatever your interests, there is always something happening in Rye and the surrounding area. Renowned for it's quirkiness, it is a place for all seasons; be captivated by the infamous Bonfire celebrations throughout October and November or be caught up in the festivities of "Jack in the Green" as part of the May Day celebrations in Hastings. Around Christmas, Rye comes in to its own with the Rye Christmas Festival. Although too many to mention, there are also a whole host of craft fairs and country shows, food and wine festivals such as the Scallop festival in February, the annual Rye International Jazz Festival in August, the Arts Festival in September and Open Studios throughout the year. There is also a vibrant music scene with some amazing open mike sessions and pubs playing live music in the surrounding area. Rye will not disappoint you!

My passion is people and I adore living in Rye. My focus is to provide a cosy bolt hole for people who just want to escape from it all, re-charge their batteries and indulge their senses. I love live music, good food from all over the world, cooking for people and the outdoor life. My attitude to travel is the same as my attitude to life which is, "Where Next?!" Nothing thrills me more than knowing that visitors have enjoyed the special attention of staying at The Find!
