Our bright & charming 1910 vintage guest house offers lots of GOOD VIBES! Half a block from Sunset Blvd and right smack in the middle LA's two hippest hoods (Silverlake & Echo Park) you'll be walking distance to all the area has to offer!
This listing is for the entire one bedroom guest house. We encourage you to please take the time to read ALL the below details of this listing before booking! (Click the "more" button below).
This HAPPY house is a VINTAGE California craftsman bungalow and it's over 110 years old. It has loads of charm but it also has a few quirks. It is spacious, clean, comfortable and clutter free! Lots of happy Cali sunbeams pour in through the French windows to brighten up your day:) It has a quaint front porch and a cute little back porch too! The cottage has a spacious open floor plan integrating the kitchen, living room and dining room. The bedroom is separate. Bathroom has two doors and can be accessed from the kitchen or the bedroom. Hardwood floors throughout with ceramic tile in the kitchen and bathroom. Walk-in closet in bedroom plus an armoire in the living room.
It would feel crowded with more than 4, but the house can accommodate 6 people in this manner: The bedroom has a queen sized bed which accommodates 2 adults. The living room futon couch converts to a FULL sized bed and can accommodate two "cozy" adults. Additionally, there is a comfy QUEEN-sized air bed (that can be set up next to the dining area )which can fit 2 adults. We also have a pack and play crib upon request.
Kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, full sized gas stove & oven, microwave, toaster, coffee makers, place settings, cookware, basic spices & condiments, teas, coffee, etc. Everything you need to make a home-cooked meal. Right outside your back door is the gas bbq. However, there is no dishwasher.
Who would want to be in sunny Southern California without outdoor space?!? You'll have lots of it here. Your front porch has two chairs and a small table. The back door opens to your small private yard with a BBQ and bistro table. The larger yard in front has a seating area with coffee table, large dining table with benches, and a shade structure. String lights and lanterns light it up at night.
Wifi internet. 40" TV. Direct TV with hundreds of other channels. HDMI cable to connect your computer or other devices. There is also a DVD player and speakers for your mp3 device.
The clothes washer and dryer are located in a shed across the patio.
The necessities (such as towels, sheets, blankets, soap, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, paper products, hair dryer, clothing steamer, bottled water, etc.) are all provided. We also have two commuter bikes for your use. One female frame and one male frame. Let us know if you will be using the bikes or if you require a third.
GOT INFANTS? We offer a Pack-N-Play portable crib with bedding, high chair and other baby items. Let us know what you need.
Guests have their own private yard behind the cottage and also have full access to the main courtyard which we encourage our guest to use anytime, day or night.
To access the cottage there is a full flight of concrete stairs leading up to the property, a long walkway and another few stairs at the porch.
We do not have a driveway or designated parking spot but there is usually parking on our block. If you arrive very late at night or if neighbors are having a party you may have to walk a block.
Interaction with guests
Since we work during the day, guests will self-check in and out. We will send instructions before your arrival. In the house you will find a "welcome" booklet with lots of helpful information about the house and the neighborhood.
Although we live in the front house, we are very mindful of our guests' privacy and we will NOT come knocking on your door. During your stay we may bump into one another or our paths may never cross. Also, there is also a possibility that we may be out of town during your stay. However, if we are here we are very EASY-GOING & APPROACHABLE and if you have any questions or needs whatsoever we are here to help you in any way that we can.
Other things to note
We are located half a block from Sunset Blvd. Set-back away from the street on a large property, the guest house cottage is secluded. However, please keep in mind that this is the central part of the city and much more densely populated and a lot more "lively" than the more suburban parts of Los Angeles. There is always a lot going on in this urban and "youthful" area including parties and neighbor gatherings. (In other words, there are times when it can be noisy.)
PLEASE DO NOT INSTANT BOOK if you have any questions or need more details. Air BnB will charge you their fee if you cancel so please feel free to ask us anything you want before booking. Also, do not instant book if you plan to film here! Please send an inquiry first.
We are often not home during the day so we provide you with a door code so you can CHECK-IN by yourself anytime AFTER 3pm. Check OUT is 11am. We are flexible if we are not booked, so if you need early or late check-in/out just ask! If we are booked, the housekeeper arrives promptly at 11am.
No parties but you can certainly invite a friend or two over without asking our permission. For extra people intending to stay overnight we kindly ask that you register them with us first and pay the extra guest fees.
We just ask that our guests to be respectful of the house, the neighborhood and the planet (energy, water, etc.)
THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING!
We are laid back yet adventurous and we like to get our hands dirty. Originally, Michelle is from New York City and Barry is from Portland, OR. We now live with our infant son and dog in the fabulous and diverse neighborhood of Echo Park/Silverlake in central Los Angeles. We own a small business and work a lot, but when we are not working we love to travel to remote places and enjoy meeting other travelers. Please ask us ANYTHING you may want to know about us! Much PEACE & LOVE!
