Welcome to my historic shotgun/railroad home in Treme! Centrally located and less than a mile from the French Quarter. This is a 2-bedroom 1 bathroom. The sleeping areas are one room with a king size bed, one room with a queen bed, 1 walk-through TV room with a twin daybed.
Quick 5 minute $5 über/15 minute walk into the quarter. Ample parking if you're driving in. 2 blocks from Esplanade bike path.
Most comfortable with 4 people, this can fit 5 with one person sleeping on the daybed.
While this is a shotgun layout (one room leads to the next), there is a private entrance to the back room via the outside of the house. It's a lovely old home which I am renovating one room at a time. The house was built in the late 1800s and it has all the great features of an old New Orleans shotgun: high ceilings, wood floors and creaky everything.
I live on the other side of the house which has a deck in the shared backyard. You and your friends are welcome to hang out on the deck. The front room in the house I use as a studio so I've got a lot of things up there but it's set up like a parlor for you to enjoy.
Please note the shower is a clawfoot tub with a hand shower. I've attached the hand shower to a tripod so it works as a shower but it is pretty low. Think Euro travel style.
You'll enter through the back door via a side walkway. I'll leave a front door key. and through to the backyard. I don't have cable TV but you are welcome to the Apple TV and tons of books! Especially New Orleans related.
Checkin Note: The 4pm check in time is to allow for cleaning between bookings. Ask about an early check-in and I'll be flexible if nobody is staying before you.
Interaction with guests
If I am in town, I will greet you and am happy to answer any questions about New Orleans and the neighborhood.
Other things to note
Shower: The shower is a clawfoot bathtub with shower attachment. It's adventurous.
Smoking: No smoking cigarettes in the house--outside is fine. People tend for the stoop or deck. I don't have a problem with certain recreational herbs and the neighbors don't seem to either.
We are walking distance from the French Quarter but it is not necessarily safe to walk at night/dusk. I feel comfortable biking always but I don't walk by myself after dark and I am always aware of my surroundings. This is true for me anywhere in New Orleans. Guest comfort levels vary. I love this neighborhood and feel very comfortable here but if you haven't enjoyed traveling in a developing country, this may not be your spot.

Hey! After a few years keeping busy with photography, guiding and ski patrol in Tahoe with New Orleans as home base, I finally settled on the next adventure--fixing up a 19th century home. I've always enjoyed hosting couchsurfers and am excited to welcome Airbnbers to Treme!
My favorite part of traveling is getting to know people their stories. Through Airbnb I enjoy meeting folks and helping travelers experience New Orleans more authentically! I've couchsurfed and traveled in Australia, Costa Rica, Ireland, England, France, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, China, Mongolia, and all over the U.S. (most recently, Alaska).
I love New Orleans and enjoy the fact that I can walk to a variety of live music and delicious cuisine. But I miss the mountains and beaches of California where I've worked as an outdoor guide for five years. I have my Wilderness EMT certification which is helpful for winters ski patrolling in North Lake Tahoe.
I keep my place clean, am respectful, straight-forward but open-minded... Iove food, stories, people, and consider experiences as the most important investments toward a fulfilling life. Hope to meet you!
