What a beautiful house! Perfect for a getaway with friends. The area was lovely with easy access to local towns and torquay itself. The local beach was pretty and quiet with an amazing pub called the thatched tarvern nearby. The house had an amazing view and the hot tub was great fun! Robin was an excellent host - it was easy to contact him throughout our stay and he was extremely helpful. I would definitely come back here!

Highly recommend this house to anyone. Great location, amazing accommodation and lots of space for friends and family

There were 10 of us staying at Robin's house for my Dad's 70th, and we had a great few days, but we were disappointed with some aspects of our stay. I've given an average for star ratings from our group, as that seemed fairest. I'll leave a few words myself, then I have posted a review from another member of our group. The views were truly beautiful, and nearby walks were lovely, especially Labrador Bay. We are in some great restaurants and nights we're peaceful and quiet. The house was comfortable and the hot tub was really a hit! It did take hours to warm up and only seats 2, but you just have to be organised about it. However, the house needs a spell of TLC. It did smell very damp, downstairs mainly. We couldn't use our bathroom at all as that was where an ongoing leak came from that gushed out into the room below a few hours after we arrived. We hadn't even used it so the problem must have been there before we arrived. The shower looked a bit like it was coming apart and cleanliness wasn't the best either. Having said all that, we didn't go there to live in luxury, just to have a good time, which we did. I just think the price tag was a little hefty. Here's the review from another group member: Positives We arrived at the house and loved the beautiful coastal view out the back. The dining area has a big table which accommodated our large group. We enjoyed using the hot tub. The firepit seating area is lovely. Negatives We wanted to use the BBQ but it had seen better days. So we used the oven in the kitchen instead. The wood BBQ is on the other side of the garden so we decided not to use it. Smell of damp everywhere. The ceiling caved in on us as we were going to bed in the double bedroom downstairs. Lots of water gushed out which meant we couldn't use that room. Shower downstairs is not very powerful. Shower head needs to be replaced. Fridge was dirty when we got there so I had to clean it. Such a shame that these things let the property down as it could be a lovely place. A few things need to be fixed properly and not patched up as it seems to be the case throughout a lot of the house.

We had a lovely stay in Maidencombe. The house is well located for walking along the cliff path and a nice local beach and pub are a hilly but beautiful half hour walk away. All other amenities such as shops and towns are a drive away. The house has lovely views from the garden and there is plenty of space for a large group. The fire pit and hot tub are an added bonus (the hot tub takes a little bit of perseverance, but is lovely once its ready). Overall would recommend for a chilled family holiday.
