Described by guests as "a hidden gem', The Potting Shed is a snug self-catering cabin set in a large garden, surrounded by fields and trees. The adjoining summer house gives space to relax in and enjoy the views and sunsets. Breakfast is provided.

The space

The Potting Shed is a rurally located cabin which sleeps two, or three with a camp bed added. It is tucked away around the side of the main house and enjoys lovely views, privacy and a large garden.

The Potting Shed has a loo and a little kitchen which is stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, biscuits, and breakfast.
Breakfast consists of two types of cereal and milk, bread (butter, jam & marmalade), a pain au chocolate, yoghurt and fruit.

There is a double bed and we can provide a single camp bed when required. Three guests is the maximum that The Potting Shed can take.

There is an oil heater which is good for providing a constant cozy temperature, and the fan heater (the 'wood burning stove'!) is great for a quick top up if needed.

We have chickens who wander around the garden.

PLEASE NOTE; There is no hot running water in The Potting Shed, however there is cold plus a very fast-boiling kettle! Guests are most welcome to use the bathroom in the main house when needed, as well as the washing machine. The wifi is sketchy in The Potting Shed, guests are very welcome to come into the house to connect and use our wifi.

Guest access

The Potting Shed has a very large lawn to call its own.

Inside, the little kitchen has a fridge, a toaster, kettle, sink and a microwave, and a BBQ.

As well as a television there are books and board games, playing cards, croquet and a petanque set. We have a bluetooth speaker which guests are welcome to borrow.

The Potting Shed has a loo and sink, guests are welcome to use the guest bathroom (with a bath & shower), as well as the washing machine and the wifi in the main house.

Guests who are cycling or travelling on motorbikes are welcome to use the garage for storing cycles and bulky gear.

Interaction with guests

We are here to help make our guests' stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, and are very happy to discuss the local amenities, give recommendations, and directions if required.

We do our very best to respect guests' privacy at all times, but are always here to help.

Our dogs are very friendly and love to say hello. We can keep them away from The Potting Shed when required, but any guests who have a strong fear of dogs may feel uncomfortable with them being 'next door'.

Other things to note

The Potting Shed is situated close to lovely beaches, the Firth of Forth where you can sail, cities, castles and hills. We have it all on our doorstep, yet are surrounded by peaceful countryside.

Please note that the wifi signal in The Potting Shed is weak, but guests are very welcome to come in to use the wifi in the main house.

A very well-designed cosy living space. We had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. A pleasant surprise that Vikki provided us milk, tea, coffee, fruits and even yoghurt... something we didn't expect to help kick start our trip. Much thanks for sharing this space

Loved our stay at the Potting Shed! Right from booking, Vikki was quick to respond to communications and let me know when it was all ready on our arrival day. It is in such a beautiful spot but only a few minutes from 'civilisation'. I stayed with my two boys (8 & 5 years) and they loved running around the garden! Would definitely recommend and would stay again if we are in that part of the world.

My favorite Air B&B ever! 5 out of 5 across the board! The Potting Shed has so much cozy cottage character, and feels like a real hidden gem. We loved sleeping in, making porridge and tea, and enjoying the view from the big barn doors. Vikki is an amazing host with an amazing family. She was always available by text with answers to our questions about Edinburgh and the surrounding area. And, she made it very easy to use her house (right next door to the Potting Shed) for showering, asking questions in person, or using the internet. We cannot wait to go back to Scotland, and Vikki will be the first person we call!

Awesome! A little tricky to find but totally worth the trip - we went up for a wedding in Limekilns (10 mins drive), but would happily return for a relaxing holiday. Great place, amazing setting and unusual accomodation. Thank you!

We are a busy family living and working in The Kingdom of Fife. The Potting Shed is part of our lives and we love it very much. We look forward to sharing it with our guests.
