About this listing
We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful, fully-restored 16th century house on the bank of the river Dadou, close to the medieval market town of Realmont.
Le Fort is a completely modernised 16th Century house situated on the bank of the river Dadou, right by the 400 year old Pont Vieux. It still retains charming original features including stone walls and beamed ceilings with the latest in modern fixtures and fittings. It has 4 bedrooms, each with a distinct style, 2 bathrooms with solar-heated rain showers, a spacious and open kitchen, and a cosy living room for relaxing with a book or a film. There is also a basement with table tennis and a riverside terrace.
The bedroom features a double bed, a desk & a chair, and bedside cabinets. There is also an optional clothes rail and a spare single bed (if you are 3 guests). The house is rarely fully booked so it is very likely you will have a bathroom to yourself.

Interaction with guests
We will be present during your stay and we'd be happy to help you plan your trip.
The house is situated in the quiet village of Lafenasse. There are some lovely walks through the village and the surrounding countryside, or you can take a trip to the local town of Realmont (Wednesday market is legendary!) or relax and swim at Lake Bancalié, both under 10 minutes drive from the house. This region of France (Tarn) offers some exceptional sight-seeing and gastronomic possibilities - the vineyards of Gaillac, the historic bastide towns such as Lautrec (one of the 100 most beautiful villages in France), and the bustling cultural hubs of Albi and Castres.
Having a car is the best option for making the most of your stay, but we also have bikes you can rent if you like to feel the wind in your hair.
Other things to note
Car parking is available across the river, near the recycling point - 3 minutes from the house on foot. We recommend you drive up to the house to drop off your luggage before parking.
Smoking is only allowed outside the house.
My name is Katy and I'm originally from Cambridge, UK, but now I divide my time between Cambridge and southwest France. I really enjoy hosting Airbnb guests, meeting new people from all over the world and giving them an excellent experience. Toby, my son, and his wife Marta previously looked after the house but now I am managing it myself.
