The location was very central and staying in a Jewish compound was interesting. The roof terrace was beautiful and sunsets outstanding, I was able to do a sketch of the scene. Overall we had a good stay and the room was comfortable. I would say that the host was neither friendly nor unfriendly and room preparations were fine. The host lived nearby which was good though we didn't see her throughout the stay and the host didn't make an effort to help with luggage up difficult steps or show us the room, merely pointing us to it. My sense was that not all members of the compound were sold on having AIRBNB guests in their compound which is understandable. We were regarded variably with curiosity and suspicion from those were not the host and naturally there are cultural differences to be aware of, this being quite an orthodox residence. Overall I would still very recommend the place as its unique in being able to stay in Old Jerusalem and the roof terrace is worth it.

Response from Myriam:
Shane you are always welcome in our place. Being close to the studio, we always find time for our guests when they need it, otherwise we let them be inspire by this extraordinary new atmosphere. In the compound we all come from various backgrounds and place in the world : France, England, United Stades, Germany and Israel... we share our differences with peace, love and comprehension with our Armenians neighbors.

This apartment is located right in the old city, inside the Jewish quarter. It is extremely convenient for exploring the city and you get a feel for Jerusalem you simply wouldn't in a hotel. The apartment was clean and is inside a residential compound, up a flight of stairs. The street outside isn't very busy. There is a small kitchen / general area, 2 beds next to each other, table and a bathroom. I really couldn't find a better deal in the old city and we were not disappointed. You simply can't beat 5 minutes walk to Western Wall plaza or 10 to the Via Delarosa.

This studio was a wonderful place to stay. One room with one bathroom. A door with a spiral staircase up to the terrace. We found the two twin beds to be very comfortable. The kitchenette was great for using the frig and making morning coffee. We sat on the terrace often. The courtyard that the studio is in is a wonderful safe feeling and like being part of a little household. Children playing, piano being practiced, conversations happening. Bird calls and church bells and prayer call could all be heard. The location is fantastic. Everything you want to see in the old city is minutes away and yet you also feel off the beaten path. This is our favorite type of rental. Not like a hotel at all, just a cozy home to come back to. The heat was great. The tiny bathroom was quite fun to use. Many restaurants nearby.

The ubiquitous real estate mantra - location, location, location - has probably been true since the founding of Jerusalem. And this place has location! It's a unique experience to actually stay in the old city just steps from markets and thousands of years of history. The apartment was very comfortable for two people and had plenty of hot water in the shower. If you have a car, parking in the Mamilla mall parking structure next to Jaffa gate is very convenient and surprisingly affordable per day.

Great place to stay in the old city of Jerusalem. Minutes from all the sites, very cozy, and we'll within anyone's budget.
