Where you’ll be

Devon, England, United Kingdom

Located on top of a Hill in the Middle of Heywood Forest with an Ancient Motte and Bailey Fortification Close by. The landscape is one of both deciduous and evergreen trees.

We are surrounded by nature with many different species of birds singing in the garden all day long and the forest is full of wildlife including deer and buzzards. In spring and summer the countryside and famous Devon Lanes are full of wild flowers including Bluebells, Wild Garlic, Rosebay Willow Herb, Red Campion, Foxgloves etc...

We are surrounded by rolling countryside with fields, hedgerows and woodland which offers wonderful countryside walks, bike rides and runs.

Eggesford Station by the River Taw is five minutes away with its scenic single track Railway between Barnstaple and Exeter. Before boarding the train enjoy a good hearty full English Breakfast at Eggesford Station Cafe and stock up on local organic produce from the Plant Shed shop.

Nearby sports facilities include fishing on the River Taw, Golf at Chulmleigh and High Bullen, Tennis in Chulmleigh and Horse Riding at local stables.

Local shopping amenities can be found in the villages of Lapford and Winkleigh and the Market town of Chulmleigh. The towns of South Molton, Crediton and Okehampton (all 25 minutes away) offer a more extensive selection of shops, restaurants and supermarkets.

There are plenty of good local pubs offering food and local beers and ciders.

Alternatively while away the day in our peaceful and relaxing garden with a cream tea or glass of wine.

We are Peter and Mary-Lou and moved to Devon seven years ago. Peter had a fashion business in London and Mary-Lou was a councillor and mediator in Stratford upon Avon. We grew up together in Cheshire, but drifted apart and remet 12 years ago and once Mary Lou's children finished school decided to live together and move to Devon. Peter has set up a successful picture framing and stock photography business. Mary Lou is a very skilled gardener and volunteers at RHS Rosemoor. When not working we enjoy walking the South West Coast Path and visiting the beautiful Houses and Gardens of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. We have a very friendly black Schnoddle dog, miniature poodle and miniature schnauzer cross, called Teasel who will enjoy to play with your dog (If you have one). We love our life in the Devon countryside and hope that you will enjoy your stay with us.
