Kukahbu Cabin is nestled under the trees an easy walk from the private lake and a short drive from Bear Valley skiing, charming gold rush towns, and Big Trees State Park. Perfect for small groups and families in all seasons!

The space
Our comfortable, modern cabin is situated in the mountain resort town of Arnold, in the Stanislaus National Forest. In the summer, guests enjoy the amenities at the private lake, and in the winter, skiing and snowboarding are only minutes away. Hiking, wine tasting, and other activities are available year-round. The drive from the Bay Area is only 2.5 hours in normal conditions - much easier than getting to Tahoe, and without the crowds.

Our cabin has been lovingly updated and decorated and includes many vintage and modern touches. A gas fireplace keeps you toasty in the winter, and summertime means grilling on the relaxing deck with a view of the towering trees. Deck furniture is out late spring to mid-fall.

The cabin sleeps six in two bedrooms, making it a perfect choice for a couples' getaway or a small family. DVDs, games, puzzles, and books are provided, the WiFi is great, and the TV has a Roku box for viewing Netflix, HBO NOW, and much more.

**PLEASE NOTE: We do not charge a cleaning fee! Instead, guests bring their own sheets and towels and leave the cabin clean when they go, including wiping kitchen and bath surfaces, vacuuming, and so forth. Read more about this in the House Rules. If you prefer not to have to clean before leaving, this may not be the cabin for you. :)

One well-behaved dog may be allowed - pets must be described in your inquiry. Pets may not be left unattended at the cabin and are not permitted on the furniture.

Please enter the correct number of guests in your inquiry, up to a maximum of 6, including children.

There is a security camera located outside the home, recording the exterior. There is no audio, and no portion of the interior of the home is recorded.

A signed rental agreement and emailed or texted image of photo ID are required within 48 hours of booking.

This is our family vacation home that we’re pleased to share with you! Although we keep it uncluttered and tidy, it’s not a hotel or a commercial property. We ask that you treat our home with respect. Thank you!

Lake Mont Pines is a private HOA with a beautiful lake and lodge. It has a vintage lake resort feel, and is quieter and less crowded than other nearby HOAs. Summertime activities abound during the mid-June to Labor Day season, with outdoor movies, and various games and contests down at the lake. Hiking and mountain biking is available right out the front door in any season.

If you've never been to the Arnold area, you're in for a treat! Ideally located in the Stanislaus National Forest, we are 30 minutes from Bear Valley Ski Resort to the east, and 20 minutes from the charming gold rush town of Murphys, with its wine tasting rooms, boutique shopping and gourmet restaurants. Also nearby are Columbia State Park, a preserved gold rush community; Calaveras Big Trees State Park and its giant sequoias; and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, not to mention golf, winery tours, cave tours, zip lines, horseback riding and more! Yosemite Valley is about 2.5 hours to the south.

Arnold weather is ideal for all-season fun! The warmest months are June through September, with average temps in the perfect upper 70s - low 80s range. The cabin is shady and cool, and the lake water temp is in the mid-70s. Ski season normally begins in December and carries through mid-April. Because we're at 4,000 feet, we get the postcard views without the heavy snow load farther up the hill, which means easier access during the snow season. And spring and fall are normally in the 55 - 65 range -- perfect for checking out the fall foliage in Ebbetts Pass, or visiting Yosemite without the crowds.

I'm a mom and an administrator at Stanford University, which leaves little room for down time! I enjoy reading, gardening, music, wine, and friends, not in that order. When I'm at the cabin, I love exploring the area and checking out the local wines. My awesome son likes going up to Bear Valley for the snow, swimming in the lake during the summer, and relaxing on the deck with a game of Spite and Malice (muahahaha).
