Red Kite barn is a recently converted barn in a beautiful courtyard setting, located between the villages of Llandybie and Derwydd in Carmarthenshire. Self-contained with your own entrance, a truly comfortable home from home to stay in, whilst exploring the beautiful Welsh countryside. It is attached to a bigger barn where we live, and another 2 bed opposite. We are dog friendly, please read the house rules before booking, and please let us know if you are bringing your dog at time of booking.
The space
The barn has an open plan area with cosy lounge with log burner and well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. There is a 2 seater recliner sofa for relaxing after a hard days exploring, plus a large 42" flat screen TV with freeview and a DVD player for you to use if you want to bring your own DVD’s with you to watch. Separate bedroom with king size bed, cotton bed linen, thick curtains and blinds ensuring a good nights sleep and oak furniture. Large bathroom with double shower cubicle, cotton bath sheets, hand towels and flannels are also provided. The space is light and airy with original exposed beams in the living area. There is free secure parking on site, and full use of the outdoor space, which consists of a sunny courtyard and large grassed area. Outdoor chairs are provided for your use. Please note this is a shared garden, so you may see us working in the garden from time to time or occasionally our grandchildren playing, and we currently have long stay tenants in the other barn which is on the opposite side of the courtyard. We will respect your privacy, but are also available for questions or enquiries if needed.
We are a dog friendly property. Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum 2 dogs) but please keep them on their lead at all times whilst outside in our garden, due to us having an elderly nervous cat called Alfie and sometimes sheep in the top field. You are very welcome to walk your dog in the garden, we just ask you to pick up after them please, we supply a doggy bin in the garden. We also kindly ask you to not allow your dog on the bed or sofa please, and we do not allow dogs to be left unattended in the property at any time. A dog will be charged at £10 per night, payable on arrival (bookable in advance with us please). Please only book with us if you are happy with all our dog rules.
We do not allow parties, stag and hen parties, or gatherings with anyone else not staying at the property. If you are visiting family or friends in the area, please check with us before inviting them to the property.

We are located 2.9 miles from the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons National Park, 14 miles from the Red Kite feeding station at Llanddeusant, 30 miles from The Gower, 13 miles from Carmarthen, plus many other local beauty spots just a short car ride away. Ammanford town is 3 miles away, with Tesco supermarket and high street shops and banks. Llandeilo High Street is 3 miles in the opposite direction, with quaint shops and lovely cafés, pubs and restaurants.
Due to our location a car is essential, however the nearest train station is less than 2 miles away.
Other things to note
Red Kite Barn is a self catering holiday establishment. At the beginning of your holiday we will provide you with complimentary milk, tea, coffee, sugar, etc in the kitchen cupboard, toilets rolls and tissues in the bathroom, to help you settle in and not worry about having to rush straight out to the shops. We also supply you with one small basket of wood and kindling, matches and fire lighters for the log burner. We can refill these for you at £7.50 per refill, or you are welcome to supply your own dry wood to burn.
We also supply you with bedding, a towel set each and tea towels. These won’t be changed during you stay, but we do offer additional chargeable services on request, details can be found in the guest information folder in the barn.
