About this listing
Our apartment is situated really close to the Rhine and in walking distance to several parks, restaurants, bars, cafes and transit stops. As our guest, you'll have access to a fully-equipped kitchen and our rooftop terrace. We offer a private room.
We live on the fourth and last floor of our building (which is good because it's really quiet up here!). We have three rooms plus a, sort of, living room upstairs which also functions sometimes as a second guest room. In addition, we have a really awesome rooftop terrace from which you can see the Kölner Dom (the cathedral) and enjoy the sun.
As our guest you will have access to the fully-equipped kitchen (including dishwasher and washing machine). There will be free coffee and tea for you to have in the morning. Everything else would need to be organized by you. But of course you can use our fridge/ freezer to store stuff and if you would like to cook something, all other kitchen utensils will also be available to you as well. We have a shared bathroom with a shower and bathtub in one. You will also have access to our free WiFi, of course.
Interaction with guests
We both usually work from 9 to 6 so wouldn't really be at home during the day. However, we are always interested in getting to know other people. So, there's always a chance of hanging out in the evening or having a beer/ wine somewhere after work. On a weekend day, we like to keep things a little bit more slow in the morning and have long breakfasts.
The apartment is located in the center of the charming "Altstadt Süd" which prides itself being a very lively neighborhood and active community. Our apartment is very centrally located, just a 5 minutes walk from "Chlodwigplatz" and "Severinstraße" where you can find a variety of grocery stores, lots of cafes and bars and subway stations. It's also an easy walk to the Rhine from here and a 10 minute bus ride to the historic center of Cologne, including the main station and the famous Kölner Dom.
Two metro stations are really close by, Severinstraße and Chlodwigplatz. It's not more than a 5min foot walk. From these you can essentially get everywhere pretty quickly, such as to the main station or any station along the "Ring".
Hi, I'm Henning!
I am 29 years old and work in the field of sustainable mobility and city development for a consulting firm based here in Cologne. For most of my life I have been using AirBnB for my own travel purposes. Since I love to "really" get to know places and people instead of staying at rather sterile and generic hotels, AirBnB truly is an awesome way of discovering the world. I must say that AirBnB has really always offered me wonderful encounters and lovely stays at people's homes. It's simply always an experience in its own to stay at people's private places, apart from actually seeing a city or visiting a place.
For that very reason, I have also decided to host people in my own place in the very heart of Cologne. I live with my girlfriend Jen in an apartment which is big enough to offer the guest room to people on AirBnB. That way, I have the opportunity to give something back to the AirBnB community and meet interesting and international people here at home when I am not traveling myself.
I love to hang out with my girlfriend on the rooftop terrace and do gardening, cook something together, watch soccer or simply go out to grab a beer at one of the many quirky and cool bars that the Südstadt can boast with.
My girlfriend and I have a 9 to 6 job meaning that we normally only have time in the evening. However, you can always call me during the day if you need any help or have any questions.
