The Lothian Wing wing was built on the original foundation stones of the 17th century Ferniehirst Castle kitchens, to serve as the private apartment of the late Lord and Lady Lothian. The addition initially had a thatched roof until recent years when replaced by tiles.

Take in the fresh, country air in this magnificent setting. Boasting exquisite decor and walls draped in history, visit The Lothian Wing to explore what Ferniehirst has to offer.

The space
Master bedroom: A light and airy double bedroom with copious wardrobe space. Views to the landscaped grounds. A private bathroom that can be shared with the Twin Bedroom.

Twin room: This twin bedroom also has views of the landscaped grounds. Shares bathroom with the Master Bedroom.

Upper bedroom and bathroom: Self-contained upstairs unit of a double bedroom with adjacent private bathroom.

Sitting room: Enjoy the log fire and piano in winter. On warmer days, the French doors open onto the landscaped grounds and patio with a picnic table and chairs.

Where you’ll be

Oxnam, Scotland, United Kingdom

Our private riverside walk is a stone’s throw from the Castle and the perfect place to get a taste of our beautiful Borders countryside. Stroll in woodlands by the meandering Jed Water, before taking the steps up to our viewing point to take in the vista.

Two miles north of Ferniehirst is the colourful and historical town of Jedburgh. The town is dominated by the red sandstone ruins of Jedburgh Abbey (pictured above), founded in 1138 by David I. Other attractions are Mary Queen of Scots’ House, a museum that tells the story of her tragic life.
