The former market town of Kirkoswald is located in the stunning lower Eden Valley of Cumbria, about 9 miles from Penrith, close to the Lake District and the Pennines. Located in an area renowned for walking and cycling, this picturesque and historic village boasts a small cobbled market place and some very fine Georgian buildings. Kirkoswald also has a unique 19th century bell tower, located on a hill overlooking the river Eden. Other notable features are a village shop, run as a co-operative by the locals, as well as a couple of great pubs which serve excellent food.
