About this listing
Welcome to our home! This vintage cabin is located on the bank of the Yuba river. Ski resorts are close by and hiking options abound. The cabin features a fireplace and a custom stained glass bathroom. If unique is your favorite word, read on!
Come enjoy the mountains and relax in our cozy, beautiful cabin! This 950 square foot gem is compact but has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. You will appreciate the beautiful stonemasonry around the water feature outside and the craftsman woodwork inside.
The south facing living room has two large French doors providing a scenic view of the river (toddler alert 2), with a fireplace that you can cozy up next to after a hard day’s skiing or hiking. We purposely do not have a TV but we provide a large monitor in the living room on which you can watch movies. An eclectic selection of books is also available for you to read. The downstairs bathroom is the most beautiful room in the house with its stained glass windows. Turn on the lights at nighttime and admire it from the outside. And when you come back inside try out the Jacuzzi jet bath.
Two medium sized bedrooms are located upstairs, one with a Cal King bed, the other with a queen size bed and a loft that can sleep one extra person. Comforters, linings, pillows and extra blankets are provided to assure a good night sleep at the end of your memorable day.
Our home's kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences except a dishwasher. The house has hi-speed Internet access and the cell phone reception is quite good. The living room’s wood stove heats the house nicely but can be complemented with the wall propane heater and/or two space heaters.
And of course, there is the beautiful river right outside the back deck and plenty of summer and winter outdoor activities at your disposal.
The northwest shore of Lake Tahoe is about a 30 minutes drive away. Within ten miles you can find three ski resorts including Royal Gorge, one of the county’s largest cross-country resorts. Trailheads starting at Royal Gorge lead to a number of beautiful alpine lakes that you can hike to in summer.
The entire home will be available to you as well as the back and side deck and the rest of the property. We have riparian rights so you can take a stroll along the river.
Inside the home you will find a well-stocked kitchen with condiments, spices, tea and coffee that you can use. Soap and shampoo are also provided.
Interaction with guests
We hope to have the opportunity to meet and greet all of our guest in person. If schedules don't permit, we may arrange a greeting by our home's caretaker or we will leave instructions for access using the lockbox. We will also be available via phone throughout your visit.
Other things to note
If you come in winter, you will need to learn how to use the fireplace and carry wood from the storage to the living room.
Speaking about mountain living in winter:
We have no garage or carport (yet).
Our driveway and the community roads are plowed by the association but you may have to shovel some snow in the event of a winter storm.
Inquire about pets
Please don't burn anything else in the wood stove than the paper, kindling and wood that are provided.

born and raised in Germany I made it over the pond for the first time at age 18 and fell in love. 12 years later I was enjoying the Southern California sun while finishing school. I lived at the foothill of the San Gabriels then and fell in love with the mountains. And now I own a beautiful home in the mountains that I would like to share with you. I hope you will like it as much as I do! Airbnb suggests I write about my life motto here. I guess I'll go with Brendan Gill's: "Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious."
