Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Escape to this stylish five-bedroom farmhouse in the heart of the Dorset countryside.

Tucked away on a working farm on the Chedington estate near Beaminster, it’s the perfect retreat for family gatherings or group getaways. Wake up to gorgeous countryside views, a spacious garden and outdoor dining area, plus great local walks.

Just 20-minutes from the coast, there’s tons to do nearby. Two shepherd’s huts on-site offer additional accommodation for up to 14 guests. Pets are welcome!

The space
This beautifully refurbished farmhouse is bright, airy, and offers plenty of space for family gatherings. The open-plan communal living areas are perfect for everyone to hang out together, while the stunning modern kitchen — with a big range cooker, breakfast bar, and all the essentials — is ideal for cooking up a feast and chatting with your nearest and dearest as they kick back and relax. Afterwards, gather around the large dining table in comfy chairs for a meal together.

The lounge is a great spot to unwind, with a modern smart TV and sumptuous sofas and armchairs where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. There is also an open fire, a basket of Logs is provided on arrival, further Logs can be purchased if necessary.

The kitchen also has a separate utility room and downstairs toilet with a tumble dryer and washing machine.

Upstairs, you’ll find five elegantly-appointed bedrooms, each with ample storage space and beautiful views over the rolling countryside. Two of these rooms have spacious king-size beds, each with its own en-suite bathroom, TV, and immaculate furnishings.

The other three bedrooms come with comfortable double beds and share two bathrooms. The king-size beds can be split into singles upon request for added flexibility and to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, fluffy towels and premium Bramley toiletries are provided in the bathrooms.

Outside, the garden is a great spot to soak up the views. There’s plenty of space for kids (and dogs too!), plus a set of swings for youngsters. The large outdoor dining table on the patio is ideal for enjoying al fresco drinks or a BBQ with friends and family while gazing over green fields and distant hills.

You might catch sight of local lambs, a hare hopping along, or Rodger the horse grazing nearby. Birdwatchers can spot barn owls, kestrels, buzzards, sparrowhawks, black redstarts, and fieldfares.

The farmhouse is just a stone's throw from two one-bedroom shepherd’s huts, rest assured though, you'll have plenty of privacy! Or, if you're looking to share your getaway with additional friends or family, all our properties can be booked together, accommodating up to 14 guests.
Please see our other hut listings for more information, or message for further details.

Neighbourhood highlights

The farmhouse makes a perfect base for exploring the Dorset countryside. Whether you’re keen to get out on a hike, relax with a pint in a sun-soaked beer garden, hit the seaside, go fossil-hunting on the Jurassic Coast, or dive into Dorset’s rich history and heritage, it’s all just a short distance from the farm.

Step outside and explore miles of unspoilt countryside teeming with wildlife. For outdoor enthusiasts, footpaths directly from the farm lead to a variety of lovely walks (great if you’re got your pooch with you).

Be sure to check out the Thomas Hardy self-guided trail, which starts in nearby Beaminster and winds its way to the charming village of Evershot—featured in three of his novels.
Beaminster, just a short drive away, has charming gift shops and great eateries, including The Ollerod for fine dining. There’s also a Co-op for any essentials you need. Crewkerne, a 20-minute drive away, offers a Waitrose, and Bridport, also a short drive, boasts a vibrant market and lively atmosphere - perfect for a wander.

A trip to Dorset wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the Jurassic Coast. Nearby beaches like West Bay, Burton Bradstock, Lyme Regis, Seatown, and the picturesque Eype are all within 35 minutes’ drive.

Take time to explore Mapperton House, home to stunning Grade II*-listed gardens—one of the finest in the South West. Visit Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, where you’ll find a 600-year-old swannery and beautiful Victorian walled gardens. Venture to Forde Abbey, a former Cistercian monastery with an impressive 48-meter-high fountain (the tallest powered fountain in England), or enjoy a unique Donkey Walking Adventure in Beaminster.

Just across the border, Somerset’s National Trust properties, Montacute House, Barrington Court and Tintinhull are well worth a visit and great for families.

If country pubs are your thing, you’ll be spoilt for choice! The Hare and Hound (15-minute drive) is a classic 19th-century pub, while The Greyhound (7 minutes by car) is a charming inn in Beaminster, The Half Moon in Melplash (15 minutes away) is a lovely thatched pub with a suntrap beer garden, and The New Inn (12-minute drive) is a 17th-century thatched pub in the picturesque village of Stoke Abbot.
